Beware the Petrol Scam and poor customer service. When you go to Rome, you have to watch out for folks who will try to rip off tourists. I had no idea it would start when I rented a car. The car was given to me with a 1/2 tank of gas but, the attendant, Paulo, noted this on the file and assured me I would get a credit. When I returned the car - with a full tank of gas - they said I needed to contact customer service to get the refund. I should have realized I was being taken advantage of but, I am a National Car Elite and I trusted this local National franchisee in part because of my experience back in the US. Well, the customer service representative told me they did nothing wrong, and they would not give me a refund. Petrol is expensive in Europe so their little "Petrol Scam" cost me $40 US. Also, don't count on National to be of any help - they simply point to Locato and say, it is their rental. So, beware don't leave the lot without a full tank of gas and, based on my experience, don't trust this company to do anything but look for ways to screw you. Best bet may be to avoid them entirely.

Rxpect at least 2 hours wait from arrival to delivery of yhe car. They proudly tell you they are Locauto not National. So all must be entered manually. The car of course is not ready, we need to wait 30’ for cleaning.... among worst customer service ever

Are you serious!! 700 €for a week rent for the cheapest car!!! Think the same price I was paying in Iceland, where the price are really spicy than Italy!!! Good luck guys renting your cars at this price!!!

This is the WORST car rental company I ever worked with!! The service was so bad on check-in (Milano) - the man was practically yelling on us for trying to understand why we didn't get the car we ordered. Then on the checkout we discovered they charged us an additional 80 Euros - we showed them the contract from expedia but they laughed at us!!! saying it not valid since we changed (on the check-in) the name of the main driver. (Instead of me - my partner since my driving license was not valid in Italy) If you care about your vacation (even more then your money) I warmly suggest you - find another company and stay away from this one.

Staff was very helpful. I asked them to give me bigger car. It was crowded and I thought that they would not help me. But They did their best and gave me an excelent car with a little price difference. They added great value to my vacation. I have also some doubts about return process. Because I would gave the car to different city. When I reached there they were also profecional. I easily gave the car back without problem. Super service. 5 stars..Thanks for everything.

Nothing to say about the rented car but after a month I received a new charge of €40 on my credit card without any reason. The car was bring back perfectly and full of fuel as the checkout recorded. I didn’t do anything for it and they charge me again after another month for the same amount. Police don’t do anything for it in italy! NEVER AGAIN. Don’t give to them information about your credit card! They stole the money!!

Read the negative reviews before booking but figured my experience would be different as I’ve never struggled with a rental car company before. But wow... this place is exceptionally terrible on the customer service front. Don’t be fooled by the competitive/relatively cheaper prices that are advertised via third party booking sites... they nickel and dime you at pick up, and since it’s nonrefundable you have no choice but to pay the hidden fees. We paid €100 more euros at pickup which was not disclosed on the third party site we booked through. We also told the rep that we were declining roadside assistance, but she messed up our paperwork and we were charged for that service at drop off despite our long convo with their customer service rep who basically told us we should pay for her colleagues mistake. Honestly unacceptable and unprofessional in every way. Run far away from this company.

We booked a manual car for 2 days. When we arived at termini station, the lady behind the office told as that they have only automatic cars and she forced as to go to an other location to take the manual car we booked. So we payed an other 15 euros for the taxi. When we got there, we paid some extra money for roadside assistance but they never sent as the email with the assistance informations and the assistance telephone number. So we paid the extra money for nothing. About the drop-off point now. They sent us details with the drop-off location in the airoport via email. The location on maps was completely wrong, so we hurriedly caught our flight. 200 euros for 2 days. Poor and rude service. There are better and cheaper offices if you book online.
