They gave us a car with worn brakes. We heard loud noises while driving and had the car checked in a repair shop. We had to return the car, because it was not safe to drive. Without any excuse Hertz wanted to give us a smaller category as replacement. The β€žrefundβ€œ they offered was to return the smaller car non fueled…

8am, and the counter is closed at the airport, you need to go to the p4 at return. Even though I indicated already at the pickup that I want to pay with a different master, it was refused. Never ever hertz again, this was the last time. Also the car we got, was not the one I booked. Stay away from them, it's a ripoff.

I have already spent 4 hours of my life dealing with Hertz Catania AP, so I'll try to keep this brief. The branch at this airport is shambolic with it's organisation to the say the least. The pre-booked vehicle collection took 3 hours, from approaching the desk to driving away. I should also point out that I was not an isolated case, and the hoard of other waiting customers would've spent the same amount of time as well. I am still yet to understand what causes the delay, other than to suppose that the office simply cannot cope with the volume of customers. However that is not an excuse, as a business you should only accept a volume of custom that you can comfortably deal with. Days later, when the nightmare of stepping off a three hour flight and spending the same time again queuing had faded to a bad memory, I wondered whether we and the other customers that day had simply been unlucky. Victims of a series of unfortunate events. But when returning the vehicle 10 days later, (allowing a good one hour minimum for the process), I was saddened to witness the same volume of chaos with waiting and frustrated customers attempting to collect their vehicles. I was especially saddened because I had to join them to go through the drop off procedure. This took one hour, so an improvement on the pick up, and admittedly delayed as I fought the accusations of vehicle damage, (thank God for phone cameras I say). Which brings me to another point...why should I have to rely on photographing my own pre-rental evidence, yet Hertz can suffice with a crude 'x' on a sheet of paper, which is clearly not enough to record the detail of the most blatant piece of damage on the car, for which I would later be accused. As I said, fortunately I had photographed the damage before the rental commenced, but had I not done this I would no doubt have been charged with the 1900euro excess, for minor aesthetic damage that I strongly suspect would not have been repaired. As I left for my flight I couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor wretches I left, almost certainly pondering as I once had, why I hadn't just booked with Sixt instead.

The literal worst rental car agency I've ever had to deal with. Reservations? Dont matter. Get a ticket from the hidden kiosk? Doesn't matter. Terrible first impression for an island that survives on tourist monies. Sicily has a terrible unemployment rate so without vacationers, the island would go the way of the do do. I will not be back. Will probably cut my two week stay short if this is an example or how this area operates. This picture is what you can expect. 3 hour wait...with a reservation.

Terrible Service, not customer oriented, not willing to listen neither give details. Not surprise as its not the first time, unfortunately my company works with Hertz in France and can't choose another option.

Unfortunately I cannot give less than 1 start. This company and staff at the counter is an absolute disaster. 2 hours wait to discover that they did not have the car I have booked, I was then given a replacement to discover once at the car park (which is far from terminal) that the car did not start. I had to get back to the terminal to get it replaced once again and was given a car in a different group and heavily damaged on the rear and with wipers held together by plastic bands. I called the day after to get it replaced and was told that they would get in touch in the coming days. The rental was for 18 days and they never called. Avoid Hertz in Catania if you want to avoid driving a damaged car with a chance to get stopped by the local police as it happened to me because of the missing lights at the back.

Extremely rude and disrespectful staff. We had trouble with our booking and simply asked for help - we were told to go away, and the lady behind the counter (she refused to give her name) threatened to call the cops when we asked for the representative’s name. If possible avoid this company!

Horrible customer service If I could give them negative stars I would! I left something in a car that I returned to them and realized right away and tried to call them many many times however they do not answer their phone and you cannot leave a message. I went back to them 2 days later and they said that anything found is thrown in the garbage! Also when I returned the car they accused me of scraping the wheel and we did no such thing! Do not rent from them if you can avoid them!
