Maggiore Car Rental, Catania Fontanarossa Airport

I was charged an advertised price of just under £300 for the hire car when I booked it; slightly more than other hire companies. We upgraded to the car we had actually wanted and were told that the extra charge would be €110 but the final amount charged to my credit card was over €400. The company were deliberately misleading with the information given. We would not have upgraded if we had been told the correct amount. DO NOT book with this company; they cannot be trusted.

I really wanted to make sure to leave a 100% positive review for Maggiore, to be very honest I have no idea where all these negative reviews are coming from. I booked my car via Auto Europe as it had the best deal and low deposit. Right after all saw all these bad reviews and I started freaking out but I decided to have a goal. 1. Car collection at Catania airport - car rental office is OUTSIDE (take your right after customs) the main airport terminal but just a very short walk and well signed. There was 3 people in front of me and had to wait just under 30 min, which wasn’t a big deal. I was welcomed by Laura which was super approachable, friendly, professional giviving me few cars options, upgrade to a higher car category with a small fee and few insurance options. I followed Laura recommendation to take a insurance as traffic in Sicily is crazy compared to the UK. After choosing my car and insurance option I was informed about all scratches in the car, instruction where the car was parked and instructions to return the car. 2. Car was sparkling clean and almost new with just few scratches which was already informed. Car performance don’t have nothing to complain. 3. Returning the car was very straight forward. I went to return bay, gave the paperwork to the staff who had a quick walk around the car and wished a safe return home for me. Overall I don’t have nothing to complain and I’ll give 100% positive feedback to all staff and everything related to my rent and definitely would use Maggiore car rental again and will recommend.

Can‘t recommend it. Booked by a third party, because they want 200€ more online. In total Full insurance 307€ They did not take my Mastercard because it‘s N26. With this exact Credit Card I rented at thrifty, Sixt and Europcar before, in Australia, USA, Greek and Germany. But they don‘t except it. So I had to pay in cash what’s fine, but because they can‘t hold back any money I could not rent it, they told me. And there’s is nothing they can do for me. I talked to my third Party and they told me I should try and get another insurance at Maggiore and pay cash. Then I might not have to use a card. The extra insurance cost me 380€ So we Paid 687 Euro for a dirty Toyata Aygo from 2015.

A SCAM, DO NOT GO THERE. We gave back the car at the airport, someone there checked our car and said everything was ok. We received 2 hours later the bill while we were in the airport and the company charged us 200€ without any explaination while the person said the car was OK.

I do not recommend !!! I am very dissatisfied because Maggiore did not return my deposit in the amount of 88.7e and additionally charged me 80e from my credit card today. I feel cheated and robbed.  Maggiore is not responding to my email and I cannot reach them.  We delivered the car in perfect condition, so such a situation should not take place.Never before have I had a problem with getting my deposit back and things like illegal credit card withdrawals.

Very good service, from pick-up to drop off. No complaints, car was almost brand new (3k km, 2 months), no hidden charges, no annoying insisting with the insurance, fully recommended. However, I did personally get 3rd party insurance via the website I rented the car through.

Worst car rental experience ever. We spoke to a person at the counter, he saw our voucher and entered a few details like name, voucher code and phone number, but he wouldn’t finish our contract. He said we have to talk to someone on the phone and make the contract by phone. The guy on the phone said it was our choice to make the phone contract und tried to sell us multiple unnecessary insurances. After we denied the unnecessary insurances they ended up on the written contract anyway. In the end we got rid of those, but the we had to pay more than pre announced online for the extra driver. Everything with a prebooked package through an external agency.

No serious company. Be aware! We got charged 167,02 in case for nothing. This accured in tiny partial charges from my creditcard. There was NO way to contact maggiore afterwards. Keep your hands off from them!
