β β β β β Horrible service I rented a car through a broker (Cartrawler) who took my money through my AMEX Card and then once onsite GOLDCAR Refused to take anything else than a Credit card - they refused a Visa infinite, a mastercard gold, an Amex Gold because they were "Credit card". I proposed cash, they refused. I had 3 small kids they did not care. I never saw

β β β β β Every single customer in front of me in the pick-up queue had angry disagreements with the GoldCar clerk because they were charged several hundred euros in unforseen extra charges, even though they had pre paid reservations.
In the end we didn't have to pay any extra, because THEY HAD CANCELLED OUR PRE-PAID RESERVATION - Because we showed in the evening rather than mid-day (our flights were delayed).
Ended up taking the bus.
Going to try to get my money back from my insurance company. This bussiness relies on scamming its customers.

β β β β β Never seen such a slow car rental company. Waited 1,5 hrs with just 5 people in front of me. Overwhelmed employees, got not the car I booked, instead a cripple box named Fiat Panda which creaked all the time. Better pay some euros more and go to a professional car rental company.

Bad car, automatic process is not automatic. Even if you upload all the documents so that you dont have to wait at the desk, you still have to show them documents!!! Hence paying 80β¬ insurance to have a easy process is not worth it .
Penalties and so on.
Never again!

β β β β β Avoid at all costs! Terrible customer service. They would accept you to rent a car with your passport if you are from any European country but Italy where they need also your identity card! Staff rude and not proactive. The worst experience I had in renting a car..never again in my life! I wish I could give zero stars. Gaitano (not sure if I spell this correctly) should get the award of the worst customer service professional!

β β β β β Google their name and you'll find out they have been fined 2 million euros by the Italian Competition Authority for Unfair Commercial Practice.
Yesterday we were at GoldCar desk in Catania airport to pick up the car booked using DoYouItaly and to our surprise, they refused to take American Express for the security deposit.
They didn't give us the car and neither they refund us our booking. Very impolite employees and no email or address where to file a complaint.
Avoid them. They are a scam.

β β β β β Fast service, clean car. BUT, you have to be prepared as almost all rental companies in Italy want to make extra cash! Have credit card with enought limit. Have external insurance. Take photos of car before and after rental. Respect local driving rules.
