Budget - Please avoid! I previously rented a car from Budget therefore thought to go with them again. Upon arrival to Catania airport, it turns out that Avis, Budget and Maggiore (extremely bad reviews) are under the same umbrella. I experienced very poor customer service from the lady β€œhelping” me at the airport, firstly she just said - without looking at my reservation - I booked the car through a third party website (the booking was made directly through Budget.com), secondly I was told the car I booked had no insurance and I was given no other option but one insurance package which came with a daily flat rate + 22% VAT (daily) + 16% airport tax (daily), doubling up the original price I booked the car for. When questioning the package, I received no explanation but that this is the only insurance package they have or I can take the car with no insurance. The car was clean and had no issues at all however extremely disappointing service, total rip off, you better off going with another rental car supplier!

There is just no way to contact them. I forgot my glasses and parfum in the car. I tried everything, but they never pick up the phone, or it just cut on me. I also tried to extend my lease by calling and emailing, but again never an answer. Terrible customer care.

Beware, it's pure scam. Don't bother renting from this company, they're charging you absurd amounts for scratches that have been there before. IF you rent from them, read the contract really really carefully and take pictures of everything. But I would avoid it at all costs, I will never use that company again, it's close to criminal, we ended up paying double the amount.

Awful scam. There was barely a line - about 7 groups, yet it took over 2 hours to get a car we already reserved online. There was a problem with the first credit card I tried - a card which had no problems for the rest of the trip. When the card failed, the process had to be restarted from the beginning. Finally when the car was assigned and the keys were given, I had to sign a document entirely in Italian, indicating that the car was in perfect condition. This I did not realize, since I don't know any Italian. Once the trip concluded, I was charged damages for small scratches from UNDER the bumper (this was sent to me via a document only in Italian, so I am not 100% sure about that). Note that there was never any spot check of the car. If they decided to add spot checks to their process, I have no doubt the average wait time would be 4+ hours at that point. Overall 2+ hours wasted, and was charged an extra ~300. 0/10 would not do again. Everything you see in the negative reviews here happened to me. HEED THE WARNINGS.

Positive: Nice car, clean baby seat Minus: Horrendous waiting time to get the car Place difficult to access from terminal They charged us 600 euros extra for damage that was already there. There were minimal paint defects near the trunk and I thought them too minuscule to be even reported, so I accepted the car. Big mistake. When you get a car from their place, check every nanocentimetre and report it straight away before stepping in. The guy who gave me the car was gone in a millisecond and I was grateful to have the car after waiting without any obvious reason to get the car with a cranky baby.

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE. As many other reviewers have said here, they are thieves and basically run the same scam over and over again. I rented a car from them and the agreed price was $238.63. The car was returned in perfect condition and with a full tank. The person at the car rental received the car and said that everything was fine and that I could leave to catch my flight, which was almost departing. A few hours later, Avis sends me an email saying they would charge me an additional approx. 600 EUR for alleged damages (one very minor scratch) to the car. This allegation is false, as I have pictures from before and after the rental to prove that this minor scratch was already there (also, even if it was true, it wouldn't be worth anywhere near 600 EUR!). I emailed Avis (to the email they provided) four times, attaching the pictures from before and after the rental. It's been a week and they haven't replied. I've also tried calling them and they don't reply. I think this is a known scam here, where the car rental knows you're a tourist who is about to get on a flight and leave the country, so they make up additional charges, knowing that it will be hard for you to dispute the fraud from another country. In the end, they charged me $1,045.80. That is $807.17 above the price agreed ($238.63). I am currently reporting this fraud to the Italian police, the European Anti-Fraud Office, the E-consumer platform, my bank, Expedia, etc.

They lied to us, we had a reservation for 3 days and in the first place we said that we will bring the car by 22, after that we wanted to change the time and bring it back by 6 am the next day(still 3 days) and the guy who rented us the car said that it is ok, but when we brought back the car we had to pay extra taxes for this. Also we got the car with the tank not full and we brought it with the tank full, and we were promised a refund for that, but that never happened. After all this I wanted to clarify things with the guy who rented us the car but there is no way to find out his name, even though he wrote an " employee number" on our contract.

I have been charged fraudulently and absurdly. In excess of 1200 euro for a 500 euro booking. They claim there was damages done to the car. The damages were there before. The same ones. We also were given a car without a manual , and were also given a car in which we needed to add oil only 200 km into the trip. Here is proof.
