β β β β β good price, nice stuff, smooth process. It is another perfect car rental in Italy. Do not be afraid, I used other companies too, never disapointed. I think most negative reviews are fake and comes from competitors.

β β β β β If you are going to take the risk of using Maggiore, which i would strongly advise against, then make sure that you check every bit of paperwork in English or Italian before signing you agreement. Make sure you look on ALL the pages, as the office in Sicily added Euro 40.35 to our bill even though we said we did not want any additional services. The services they sneakily added on were windshield cover, tow truck assistance, airport charges and admin costs.
The way they got us was they made us wait at the airport for over 2 hours to pick up the car as they had 2 staff organising about 50 pick ups. Then as the sun was going down and we had to be getting to our meeting place, they had run out of cars and had given ours to someone else. In all the hurry to get going, they verbally said their were no additional charges but added the above charges into the document.
When I complained, they offered half the money back as a refund and when I agreed they changed their mind and refused.
With so many car rental places out in the market place, there is just no reason to risk using a company with such deception practises.
Find some other car rental company to spend your hard earned money with.

Eventually we got an easyfix seat but also below average quality.
Will avoid this company in the future.
The car itself was good.

Arrived in Palermo in the evening. Getting the pre booked car from Maggiore went fast. Other discount car rental companies adjacent to Maggiore had way longer queues. No big efforts from the staff to convince me to buy other insurances than the ones I had already chosen.
Car was easily found, as described, clean, full-to-full tank policy.
Drew the car for a week across the island of Sicily and handed it back in Catania. Same good experience, car was in good shape, staff made a quick examination, took the keys and signed the end of contract.
The money taken from credit card in the end was exactly the amount weβd agreed - no fees or arguments about βhiddenβ scratches.

β β β β β Writing this review to reassure everyone that Maggiore isn't at all as horrible as all these reviews say. I was so worried on my way to Palermo that we were about to experience the worst scam ever and it was absolutely NOT the case.
Arrival late at night - Rental cars area was easy to find, directly in airport. The stand under Maggiore was closed but it's the same company as Budget and Avis that were open. We waited for about 30 minutes (looked like the same amount as the other companies around). The employee was civil, not amazing but civil and he did propose an insurance. We are glad we took it! It is an insurance in case of damages to the car, we paid 147.74 euros tax included for 7 days (cheapest car bracket). In Palermo, people drive crazy :) so it was a relief to know we didn't have to worry about getting any scratches.
There is also an option to pay for full fuel tank on return at 56.95 euros.
On return, we were immediately greeted by Roberta who spoke perfect English and was very nice and professional. She asked for the keys, checked the car and fuel, and in 60 seconds we were done. BASTA.
:) That was our experience.
