Great stress free experience! (Pls read if you don’t want deposit / insurance issues) Booked a convertible VW TROC early March 2022 (Great car, USB C ports in car - only back seat rear ports had enough power to charge my iPhone 13 Pro Max) Three people at the desk, spoke v good English and service was very fast, helpful and professional. The car was very clean and in great condition considering it had 50k miles on the clock. I was in mixed minds to book after looking at all the mixed reviews. I booked with a broker but wish I booked directly with SicilybyCar because of the deposit / insurance. If you book with a broker and even take out extra full damage insurance you still have to pay a huge deposit to SicilybyCar at the rental desk (around €2000+!) and then worry during and after your holiday about potential damages disputes. If you book directly with Sicily and don’t pay the top insurance package you again have to pay a huge deposit with the same problems which seems to be the main issues with the negative reviews. I booked via a broker and paid for the top insurance through them and only realised at the desk that I’d still have to pay the huge deposit - so I paid for the gold / top insurance direct at the Sicily desk (approx €30/day) which meant I didn’t have to pay a huge deposit or worry about potential damage repair bills during my holiday. My experience with Sicily By Car was excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again - but I’d: * book directly with them next time * always take out their top insurance to not have to worry about any damage bills and focus on enjoying my holiday It may cost more but theres a reason why almost every other ‘local’ car in Palermo / other towns have huge dents / hits to their front bumpers, rear bumpers, side panels etc Just driving in the 1st 2hrs in Palermo I saw 4 crashes / write offs!

I rented a car in Sicily & got a positive experience! Pretty much a new car, fast and friendly service & super good location at the Palermo airport. I was quite worried before, during, and after the rental - because I found many bad experiences on the internet - but in reality everybody was very friendly and all went good and smooth. Tips for renting a car: *Carefully read the terms and requirements before renting (like credit card requirement and possible extra fees) *Take a lot of pictures of the car before driving off for the first time *Make sure all damages and missing items/fuel are shown on the contract *When returning, make sure you recieve a written Check Out confirmation, and before signing be sure that all information is correct *Be polite in every situation I washed and cleaned the car from inside and outside and took care of it like it's my own. Got treated equally good by the company. I definetly recommend. Thanks!

we do not recommend. we were deliberately deceived. we rented a car for a few days. according to the online order, we should return them at 12 o'clock on time. but it turned out that if we took them an hour earlier than the declaration in the order, we should also return them earlier. it's a pity no one clearly said it. when returning the car, the staff said that everything was ok, we signed the return documents and left. after a dozen or so minutes they called and said that we have to pay additionally for 1 day. we wanted to use this car for a few hours, but they did not agree, saying that the rental was already over. a beautiful trip around italy ended with an unpleasant experience with sicilybycar. shame and disgrace.

Worst rental car company I ever had to deal with. Refused to consider "Visa Premier" as a credit card (even though Visa is listed on their website) and required us to take an extra £200 insurance to pay with a debit card. Refused to later reimburse us and didn't try to find a solution even though we were traveling with a baby! They also threatened to call the police when we said we weren't leaving before they were able to provide us with an appropriate customer service! Total scam.

From the moment we met the representative at the desk the service was excellent. The representative was polite and very helpful. The car was clean, new and exactly what we asked for. On our return we were met by the same representative, who was brilliant. What a stress free service, thank you.

When I made the reservation I accidently rented an electrical car. Luckily the desk clerk confirmed that is what I wanted (nope) and cheerfully and quickly changed us to what we were more comfortable with. All of the staff was helpful, spoke English and communicated to make sure our experience was going as expected. Very impressed with the level of customer service and the quality of the vehicle.

We had a fantastic experience at Sicily by Car. We rented a car from the Palermo Airport office. The website allowed for easily making a reservation. The office is conveniently located on the ground floor of the terminal, and the cars are accessible just across the walkway. The staff was very personable and efficient. We got travel tips and were helped along every step of the way. Drop off was also very simple. I would highly recommend this company and will definitely be using them again in the future! Thank you.

After online reservation of the car and maximum insurance, I have read a lot of negative reviews about this rental company and become bit nervous about my trip. Even more, when I have read that they need credit card to secure the deposit for the car. Unfortunately, I do not use credit cards.I wrote them an e-mail, and got the answer that I can use my debit card as long as I pay for additional insurance. It was something around 30€ more. When I arrived to airport in Palermo, their service was fast and prompt, I got the car in less than 15 minutes. The car was brand new, it was clean and economic. At the end of the rental, the girl that was doing the inspection checkup found some small scratches at the rear bumper which were caused by someone at the parking lot, or a garage. She said, don't worry you have insurance for that. The process of returning a car took less than 10 minutes, and we were on our way into airport building on time. I was told that deposit they made on my card will be refunded in next 5-.6 days, and I have no reason not to believe it. To summarise, I had really nice experience with Sicily by car, got a great car for a good price, and I am glad to recommend them to all my friends that are planning a trip to Sicily. Update: I got my deposit money back(500€) after 5 days, just as they said. Thanks, guys!
