★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We rented a car through Ryan air 3 weeks In advance with two drivers registered.
We booked the car in person 1’s name, paid for it with his card, then Ryan airs system automatically changed the primary driver to the second person, said they need her card for collateral, she doesn’t have a credit card, and now it’s too late to change the booking. Renting a new car from them is now 800 euro on the day of.
Cancelling or changing was not possible, and after 30 minutes of trying to get help/negotiating on the phone, their representative hung up on us with giving only a half refund.
Terrible experience, would never recommended, even to my deepest enemies.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So glad to return the car. Everything was OK. But all 12 days I was not relaxed because of all reviews bellow and hard words of staff, that everything what happens to the car, I’ll have to pay. I took the platinum coverage ( for the peace in mind - yeah right…), this means nothing for Goldcar. At the end I saved 250€ on theirs insurance … next time rather rent for 100€ more at some serious company.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had booked a car through Booking with this location of GoldCar at the Palermo Airport. The name of the person I dealt with was Claudia, and she claimed she is one of the managers of the location. She refused to accept my booking because I could not show her a PRINTED version of my international driver's licence. She simply refused to collaborate and she lost one customer as a result. I rented cars in many locations around the world, including from her next door neighbors, Sicily By Car, which one time accepted my electronic driver's licence and at other times did not even care to see it. The experience with Claudia from GoldCar at the Palermo Airport was the worst experience I ever had renting a car. I strongly do not recommend this location. This person is doing a great disservice to both the location and GoldCar.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On February 2022 we arrived at Catania Airport to pick up the car booked through DoYouItaly a week before. The rental period was 30 days (Eur 420.00 + Insurance).
To our surprise, GoldCar told us they do not accept American Express for the security deposit: They only accept Visa. I didn't have my Visa with me, and they didn't want to take my wife's because the contract was under my name.
They refused to give us the car.
We have rented cars in more then 25 countries all over the world and this is the first time a rental car company at a major airport refuses to take American Express.
I have tried everything to get my money back, but GoldCar claims that you can't cancel a reservation after the contract period is started. Which technically isn't started, since we didn't get the car.
We didn't get the car not because we didn't want to, but because GoldCar doesn't accept Amex!
We later found out on Google that GoldCar has been fined 2 million euros by the Italian Competition Authority for Unfair Commercial Practice.
Beware of GoldCar, they are a scam!
We ended up renting a car with the company next to them. All of the other companies at the airport accept Amex. GoldCar is the only one who doesn't.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really bad expérience with this firm. Our flight has been delayed. We have called to know how to proceed and if we will have extra-charge. The answer was : « No problem, you can give the car back today when you want ». But when we arrive, surprise : 75€ extra charge. To conclude : the are crooks !
