★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The cost of my rental doubled when I returned the car. Hertz found a scratch on the plastic bumper and noted that it was fractionally longer than 1 cm (their tolerance). The scratch was made by a heavy suitcase as it was pulled out of the back of the car by a child. Is this not the definition of "normal wear?" Hertz had no intention of actually repairing the scratch, which was hardly noticeable. But they had my credit card, so they simply milked it... to the tune of €200. A scam.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I rented a car online to pick up at the airport. I got a good deal and prepaid it on my credit card. It was with dollar rent a car. When I picked up my car it was in the same area as hertz. I gave them my confirmation and credit card. I drove away and looked at my bill the next day. They had charge me again and this time double the rate!!!! BE CAREFUL!!!!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was surprise by the good service when return car consider how bad the experience during renting in Catania. They were fast and hassle free to return. My bad for not checking the fuel wasn't exactly 100% and have to went out to TOP up at nearby gas station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 2 of 5 office desks just occupied. Two hours waiting before we could collect our car. The car was not properly cleaned as it just arrived. The car return was quick and satisfactory.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst experience for renting a car. The queue at Palermo was about 4 hours long - and staff at the airport told us it always looked this way. 2 staff members service Hertz, Thrifty, Dollar and Firefly. There were 50 people in the queue! After one hour, 8 people were served. There's no one to talk to or get any help. When we went back to Catania, the line looked just as bad. Hertz really neglected its customers in Sicily. Stay away!! All other car rental companies had normal queues. We had a great experience with GoldCar in the end, but were left €200 out of pocket.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst experience ever ! I travel almost every week for work and often rent vehicles all around the world. I had to wait over 2 hours to get my car assigned at the counter in Catania. Few days later when I returned the car the agent claimed that there was a small scratch in the lower part of the front bumper but the car was never inspected when it was delivered to me; then they charged me over $200 for convenience fee. Very sketchy service and practice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It took an hour and a half to get the car, it was supposed to be 4 wheel drive Jeep and we got badly beaten Opel Insignia instead. We managed to get the right child seats only after arguing with the personnel.
