Absolutely Horrible experience! -We waited 1.5 hours to be helped with our reservation -We were given a car seat for our 11 month old that was saturated in cigarette smoke. They keep the carseats in an enclosed room where the workers are chain smoking!! -We were charged for damage that was previously marked on the car but because we returned the car after hours we didn't find out until the charge came through on our credit card for more than DOUBLE what we had expected to pay. -These charges were listed as MISC. and were only explained to us after a lengthy and frustrating phone call. Eventually it was admitted that this damage was already on the car and they apologized and said we can expect a refund within 14 days -WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED OUR REFUND!! It's been nearly 2 months! -We called to ask why we haven't seen the money go back on our credit card and they said to wait another 14 days. -My husband just noticed that today they put through a charge of $66!! For no reason! THIS COMPANY IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE AND SCAMMING PATRONS OF THEIR BUSINESS. THEY HAVE AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE and we will NEVER be renting from them again. PLEASE save yourself the headache and thievery.

Important: Do not book your car with Budget. This place is horrible. Staff was horrible, rude and disrespectful. We made full payment for the car online and yet was not allowed to collect our car. The counter said it was because we could not prove identification as the credit card payment was made in a different name than the driver's license. That is despite us having proof of payment and security details if any additional transaction is needed (aka pin code). Again full payment was made already online. The lady at the counter was extremely rude and despite us being trying to figure our a solution she was reluctant to offer much help, even when we were on the phone trying to speak to the consultants from the online booking service and needed her help to confirm her non release of the car to us. Ruined our experience in Florence!!!

The staff were very friendly and patient. The only issue is the waiting time to pick up the car. I arrived 45min before I was due to pick up the car. However, I did not get called upon to collect my car (despite booking in advance) until 40min after the booking time. The staff dealing with the car were very efficient and lovely to deal with. When the car I had booked wasn’t available I was upgraded.

At pick up we identified 3 additional scratches on the vehicle. Upon returning the car with a full tank of fuel, the picture in the final report showed empty. Two days later, they send through a damage report and proceeded to charge an unreasonable amount. 16 days later, still no reply to our response when we challenged this. The customer support email on their official website doesn't work. The contact number they provide is to a customer service rep who simply forwards you on but no one ever picks up - tried 7 times.

Do not book from this Budget Car Rental! Their service is horrible and they will not change. First you will go online and search for car rental and Budget will seem to have the best price. Well everyone else will get this too so of the file rental stands on this block, four will be empty and Budget will have a line out the door. You will have to wait in this line, even if you reserve in advance, for one to three hours. And that was the wait on a Tuesday morning, Saturday and Sunday are worse. When I went to pick up the car I reserved, they required that I show two credit cards to rent the car. This was never communicatedid to me in advance (I've triple checked) so naturally I had only one card with me. They would not give me my car. So, I had to agree to take a lower quality car in manual transmission instead of automatic, which for the city of Florence can be difficult. Finally after over three hours spent there, the manager was able to find me an automatic van. It got me to Venice, but my day that was supposed to be spent exploring Tuscany was lost. The manager ended up being helpful, but that's time you can't get back. This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. I highly recommend avoiding this location at all costs.

We rented a Citroen van for our trip to Tuscany and although we had to wait a while because of the people ahead having troubles understanding the rental process, everything was fine. The staff were friendly and I was on the road quickly. On the return, the attendant checked everything and then showed me what my final bill would be, which was what I expected. No surprises. Very happy with everything. The only warning is when you drive in Italy do your own research before you drive here. There are lots of speed cameras and places you can't drive.

I went to Budget Florence well prepared for the worst experience of my life based on the feedback posted here. I showed up early for my appointment and I was the first customer to be served. The paperwork process is indeed slow-paced compared to that in the U.S. but, overall, I had no problems and after 35 minutes, off I went with the car. Since I payed extra for insurance against scratches and damages to the car, all I had to do was to bring the car back with a full tank. That’s when I had a big surprise! I filled up the tank about 10 miles away from the office which I thought was sufficient, however, as I pulled the car into the garage the gas meter went one mark down. Because of that, they charged me 21 euros for 3 liters of gas. When I complained about this outrageous charge, they showed me the contract (in Italian) a clause in tiny words stating that in case the car was not returned with a completely full tank, I was expected to pay as if it were empty. Moral of the story… Be very careful with the contract!

Somehow I always end up paying them more for extra insurance safety although I bought the maximum over the web ?‍? The representative who helped me out was very nice and helpful minus the extra insurance she got me pay. The car was -C!
