Great restaurant. The food was really good and lots of choice at a reasonable price, the wine was alright but not great. The restaurant has a Gothic/punk theme with lots of skulls and decorations on the walls and roof. It's in a nice location near the amphitheatre square. It is a bit hard to find first time if you don't know your way around.

A wonderful and a bit morbid fun restaurant. The owner Ubaldo is a really original and you have to go here to eat at least one time. It's found just outside Piazza dell'anfiteatro. The food is really good and the waitresses is always very polite. The prices is normal and affordable. Treat yourself with a visit!

This is another popular restaurant in Lucca which we were lucky to get into. There are less spaces outside for seating than other restaurants but actually it is all about the inside at this trattoria. It is so randomly decorated with quirky paintings, toys and paraphernalia – we loved it! There are only two wines here – red and white, both house which are served in Trattoria Da Ubaldo bottles! Priced at only €10, it was such good value. As we were hungry, we shared the Antipasti of Sliced Tuscany cold cuts, pecorino cheese, pasta fritta and bruschetta (€22). This was pricier than we had seen at other trattoria’s but the portion was hefty with plenty of food to share between two. Given how much pasta we had eaten, we opted for the secondi section and Cotoletta (veal) milanese with fries (€11). The veal cutlet was a large portion (so very good value) but was a little dry in places. The pasta dishes looked great and only started from €7 and beef steak on the grill which could be shared also looked great. It was a cool restaurant to visit and the staff were pretty friendly!

Outstanding tortellini and a very well cooked beef stake made our visit to Ubaldo a real unique experience. Furthermore, we really liked the restaurant's system with respect to the house wine where they put a bottle on each table and you just pay as much as you drink. Priced at 10 Euros per bottle the red house wine is definitely not a bad choice and goes well with pasta and meat. Service was also quick and friendly with good English. Although the whole restaurant makes a laid back impression, everyone does their job highly professionally.

The food is good, really good. But the service is poor, they have a lot of people so they don't care about the service, they pass only once by your table if something is missing with your food, you will see them again until the check is done. Shame... It's a beautiful place, but they don't care. There was no cheese, they don't bring me bread, and I had to wait 15 minutes for the check !?

Great food, great music, great atmosphere. The owner is truly a character and it was amusing to watch people walk by and a motorcycle gang show up! Food was delicious and the wine great for house wine. the ravioli with smoked cheese and cream is a house favourite. The bill came to €58 with two pasta and two small mains and a bottle of house wine

Very nice and informal place, with really eccentric but funny decor. The food is pretty nice, though when I’ll admit I underestimated how spicy the pasta I picked would be. The house wine is also really good and locally made. A bit on the pricey side but still recommended ??
