E	East London Girl on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were first attracted to this restaurant from the back entrance where the delicatessen is (opposite Gelateria Veneta Lucca). It was only when we walked through that we realised that it backed on to the main square and there was plenty of seating outside. We were served with bread in a bag (love it) whilst waiting for our food (cover charge and bread is €2). Of course, we had to have a glass of house red and a prosecco (€4). The restaurant offered a number of antipasti dishes including bruschetta, bresaola, prosciutto and mozzerella but we fancied something lighter. They had a separate bruschetta section and we had the diavola with a spicy paste. The bread was HUGE and filling. We also had the Raviolo burro e salvia (butter and sage) which was so fresh and delicious. The food was great and with each dish priced at €8, it was great value.
K	Kristine Hartman on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good meal in the famous piazza. So many restaurants to pick from so it’s hard to decide. This was a good pick tonight. We shared bruschetta and a Italian salad. Then our mains were a butter sage ravioli and porcini mushrooms pasta. All cooked perfectly and very tasty. Service by a young man was prompt and he was friendly. Second night in a row to enjoy dinner on the piazza so obviously we like the area. La Grotta would be a great choice to visit once again!

We had to wait for a table outside but it was worth it, but then it can't be a bad sign of people are willing to queue up for the food. I enjoyed the mixed grill which was lovely and all the meats were cooked perfectly. The location in the main piazza in Lucca is great too and you won't tire of the view.

The staff and atmosphere was completely memorable, there was not a moment the waiters made me smile and laugh. They were attentive to all your needs, busy or not. And the food.... Absolutely delicious, outstanding quality, amazing prices. I hope to come back from Australia one day in the future just to eat here again!
