We did this because we had extra time. Unfriendly staff and little info is given about the art. Go to the second floor to see the original tools.

Charming exhibit, small but beautiful. But the staff really don't care to have you there if you come too close to closing time. From 30 mins before closing I was followed by the guard bofore I left 15 mins before closing. Not a nice experience.

Absolutely charming place and interesting workshop. It is worse a detour from the typicall path of Florence museums

This is a small museum off the typically beaten tourist path but well worth it. The fee is only 4 euros and you can go through in less than two hours. The translation of an image into mosaic is astounding. Please make this a must see. Upstairs is a room with the benches, tools, and fabulous 'pietre dure' used to create the pieces. In the photos below, one is a painting and the next is the interpretation in stone.

The museum is specific to inlaid art, and it has an outstanding collection. The people who work there are courteous and helpful. Be sure to go upstairs. Museum opens early and closes early. Easy to find. And certainly worth a visit.

Great small museum close to galleria de l'accademia. You can enter with Uffizi tickets. We went there and some art students offered a free tour, which was great!

Very special museum, beautiful, takes only half an hour to finish the tour. But you won't see this anywhere else.

Opificio delle Pietre Dure e Museo, the Workshop and Museum of Semi-precious Stones, has exhibits of works of art made of semi-precious stone inlays. I didn't particularly have it in mind when I was planning what to visit in Florence, but the combined ticket that I bought for the Uffizi Gallery and Pitti Palace came with a free entrance to this place. On a slow morning, I visited it. I had very little knowledge of the artwork, but my visit was surprisingly enjoyable. If you like semi-precious stone inlays or if you happen to have the combined ticket and the time, make sure to visit.
