It is worth entering even if it is only a moment. It dates from the 17th century and has an interesting chapel, the second one on the left, designed by Ammannati for its own burial.

La chiesa in questo periodo sta subendo un importante opera di restauro. Personalmente ci ho lavorato e trovo il luogo molto suggestivo. The photos show the construction detail of the vaults, seen from inside the attic. The church in this period is undergoing an important restoration. Personally I worked on it and I find the place very suggestive.

J	Jesus Solero on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Esta pequeña iglesia se encuentra a espaldas de la imponente Basílica de San Lorenzo, no teniendo un papel muy destacado dentro del impresionante patrimonio monumental con que cuenta la ciudad. Su construcción data de finales del siglo XIV, sobre un pequeño oratorio dedicado a San Juan Evangelista, habiendo sufrido muchas reformas durante su historia, la última a mediados del siglo XX. A destacar, el fresco del techo, obra de 1665 de Agostino Veracini, así como varios lienzos de Alessandro Allori y Jacopo Ligozzi, entre otros autores. Desafortunadamente, durante nuestra visita se encontraba totalmente cubierta de andamios por obras de reformas, por lo que apenas pudimos disfrutarla. La entrada a la iglesia es gratuita, y el horario de apertura, los días laborables, de 07.30 a 11.00 y de 17.00 a 20.15 horas, y los días festivos, de 09.00 a 11.45 y de 18.30 a 20.30 horas. This small church is located behind the imposing Basilica of San Lorenzo, not having a very prominent role within the impressive monumental heritage that the city has. Its construction dates from the late fourteenth century, on a small oratory dedicated to St. John the Evangelist, having undergone many reforms during its history, the last in the mid-twentieth century. To emphasize, the fresco of the ceiling, work of 1665 by Agostino Veracini, as well as several canvases by Alessandro Allori and Jacopo Ligozzi, among other authors. Unfortunately, during our visit it was completely covered in scaffolding for renovation works, so we could barely enjoy it. The entrance to the church is free, and the opening hours, on weekdays, from 07.30 to 11.00 and from 17.00 to 20.15, and holidays, from 09.00 to 11.45 and from 18.30 to 20.30.

Esisteva in questo sito un piccolo oratorio dedicato a San Giovanni Evangelista sin dal 1351, quando un tale Giovanni di Lando della famiglia Gori lasciò una cospicua eredità per l'edificazione dell'edificio di culto. Con l'arrivo della Compagnia di Gesù in città (1557), il Granduca Cosimo I affidò ai padri gesuiti la chiesetta ormai malandata, che fu presto riedificata a partire dal 1579, su progetto di Bartolommeo Ammannati, l'architetto di corte. Dopo la soppressione dell'ordine nel 1775, ai gesuiti subentrarono i Padri Scolopi, che vi poterono trasferire anche le loro scuole nell'edificio attiguo. Nel 1796 furono rifatte con marmi pregiati le prime due cappelle laterali più vicine all'altare, dette di San Bartolomeo e di San Giuseppe. Il corredo decorativo interno è dovuto a Agostino Veracini che affrescò la volta nel 1665 e le statue in gesso di Camillo Caetani. Più antichi (ultimi decenni del Cinquecento) sono invece gli affreschi delle campate superiori di Alessandro Fei detto il Barbiere e le tele di Jacopo Ligozzi, Francesco Curradi e Alessandro Allori. La decorazione riflette il mutamento provocato nell'iconografia dalle nuove regole della Controriforma, con l'esaltazione dei santi missionari, come il San Francesco Saverio del Curradi. A small oratory dedicated to San Giovanni Evangelista existed on this site since 1351, when a certain Giovanni di Lando of the Gori family left a conspicuous inheritance for the construction of the cult building. With the arrival of the Society of Jesus in the city (1557), the Grand Duke Cosimo I entrusted the now dilapidated church to the Jesuit fathers, which was soon rebuilt starting in 1579, based on a project by Bartolommeo Ammannati, the court architect. After the suppression of the order in 1775, the Jesuits were replaced by the Piarist Fathers, who were also able to transfer their schools to the adjacent building. In 1796 the first two side chapels closest to the altar, called San Bartolomeo and San Giuseppe, were rebuilt with precious marble. The interior decoration is due to Agostino Veracini who frescoed the vault in 1665 and the plaster statues by Camillo Caetani. Older (last decades of the sixteenth century) are the frescoes of the upper spans by Alessandro Fei known as il Barbiere and the canvases by Jacopo Ligozzi, Francesco Curradi and Alessandro Allori. The decoration reflects the change in iconography caused by the new rules of the Counter-Reformation, with the exaltation of missionary saints, such as Curradi's Saint Francis Xavier.
