Wonderful building on one of the most beautiful squares in the world

A very impressive, historic, beautiful building that has been in the center of Florence for so many years. An absolute must visit when in Florence. Once you've forced the steps, the view is just breathtaking. 10/10

(from publication of the Tuscany Region): on the medieval houses of the Bischeri family and progressively enlarged by the Marquises Guadagni; the Palace, which overlooks Piazza Duomo, took on its current appearance in the 19th century with Anna Strozzi. The structure is spread over over 3,400 square meters, divided into several blocks.Over the centuries the owners have modified the structure of the building several times, enriching it with details and decorations: in the 1700s a monumental staircase, a ballroom (built on the occasion of the wedding of Giovan Battista Guadagni with Teresa Torrigiani), pictorial decorations by Antonio Vannetti and A. Domenico Giarré. At the beginning of the 1800s a garden with an aviary was added, numerous frescoes with mythological subjects on the ground floor and first floor, the new facade on Via dell'Oriuolo, the decorations of the upper floors (where the hall stands out with the scene in the center of the ceiling of the meeting between Bianca Cappello and Francesco I de 'Medici, painted by Annibale Gatti). In 1871 the palace went to Massimiliano Strozzi of the Mantua branch, heir to the Sacrati of Ferrara, who made further works to raise the structure and stables by one floor. The last interventions were made in 1918 by Maximilian's widow, Guendalina Steward and his son Ubert, who installed the elevator in front of the monumental staircase in 1918, added new volumes on the east side and created the neo-rococo layout of the alcove on the first floor. The building was purchased by the Region of Tuscany and has been home to the Presidency since 2008

Years ago, in this heavenly corner there was a better climate and somewhat rich in mysticism and spirituality, while since it took office the decay and the noises unfortunately are not lacking at every hour. In this area of ​​ancient clamor, prestige and noble ideals, life must be more sober and entirely dedicated to religious life and not to the ostentatious one of those who exercise ephemeral and absolutely educational values. The seat of the region is currently at the Canto dei Bischeri.
