The church of Santa Maria della Nova is a church in the historic center of Lecce. It is a rectory belonging to the parish of Maria Santissima Assunta in the Duomo. The first construction dates back to the 1400s with subsequent renovations of the 1700s. It was flanked by a Dominican monastery.

A small, recently restored church built in the late 18th century for the Dominicans. The church has the hexagonal structure in the plan. The construction was entrusted to the Neapolitan engineer Carlo Salerni and consecrated by the archbishop of Otranto Giulio Pignatelli.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È una piccola chiesa, quasi una cappella, situata in via Idomeneo, nel centro storico di Lecce , a due passi da via Palmieri. Confrontata con le fastose chiese di Lecce, sembra più sobria e meno appariscente ma è anch'essa in stile rococò e ha una sua originalità. Fu fatta ricostruire negli anni 1779-1782 dal monastero delle domenicane su disegno dell' ingegnere napoletano Carlo Salerno. La facciata ha forma poligonale decorata da festoni e da un alto finestrone decorato anch'esso da un festone con al centro una conchiglia. L' interno è a pianta ellittica e ad aula unica. Pregevoli alcune tele di Oronzo Tiso.
It is a small church, almost a chapel, located in via Idomeneo, in the historic center of Lecce, a stone's throw from via Palmieri. Compared with the sumptuous churches of Lecce, it seems more sober and less flashy but it is also in the Rococo style and has its own originality. It was rebuilt in the years 1779-1782 by the Dominican monastery based on a design by the Neapolitan engineer Carlo Salerno. The facade has a polygonal shape decorated with festoons and a high window also decorated with a festoon with a shell in the center. The interior has an elliptical plan and a single hall. Some paintings by Oronzo Tiso are valuable.
