Si trova in una piazzetta in cui confluiscono 6 viuzze del centro storico, in una zona che ha conservato molto della struttura originale. è a 5 minuti da Santa Croce
One of the oldest churches in Lecce, the first construction of certain dating dates back to shortly after the year 1000. in the photos some of the side altars. It is located in a small square where 6 narrow streets of the historic center converge, in an area that has preserved much of the original structure. it is 5 minutes from Santa Croce

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un gioiello del barocco leccese tornato all'iniziale splendore, dopo una sapiente opera di restauro (ancora in corso per la facciata) ed un'accurata ricostruzione dell'aspetto iniziale, sulla base di vecchie foto. L'interno ha preso luce anche grazie alla sostituzione dei drappi rossi con tessuti azzurri, che riprendono le delicate sfumature azzurrine dello sfondo delle volute in pietra leccese e che bene si addicono ad una Chiesa che è Santuario dell'Addolorata.
Anche le statue in cartapesta, tutte di pregio, sono state restaurate ed alcune sono abbastanza insolite, come quella di Maria Immacolata, coperta da un lunghissimo velo bianco, o quella di Santa Rita o quella suggestiva a grandezza naturale di Gesù in agonia.
Notevole anche per la sobria decorazione l'organo, collocato, come di consueto, sopra il portale d'ingresso.
La nuova illuminazione mette in risalto la bellezza dell'architettura, delle tele e degli arredi, tornati a nuova vita, di questa Chiesa che non ha nulla da invidiare a quelle più visitate, perché più centrali.
Assolutamente da non perdere. Finché il restauro della facciata non sarà completato resterà chiusa di mattina nei giorni feriali, ma di pomeriggio la troverete pronta ad accogliervi ed a stupirvi con la sua bellezza.
A jewel of the Lecce Baroque returned to its initial splendor, after a skilful restoration work (still in progress for the facade) and a careful reconstruction of the initial appearance, based on old photos. The interior has also taken light thanks to the replacement of the red drapes with blue fabrics, which reflect the delicate blue shades of the background of the Lecce stone scrolls and which are well suited to a Church that is the Sanctuary of the Addolorata.
Even the papier-mâché statues, all valuable, have been restored and some are quite unusual, such as that of Mary Immaculate, covered by a very long white veil, or that of Santa Rita or the suggestive life-size one of Jesus in agony.
Also noteworthy for the sober decoration is the organ, placed, as usual, above the entrance portal.
The new lighting highlights the beauty of the architecture, the paintings and the furnishings, returned to new life, of this Church that has nothing to envy to the most visited ones, because they are more central.
Absolutely not to be missed. Until the restoration of the facade is completed it will be closed in the morning on weekdays, but in the afternoon you will find it ready to welcome you and amaze you with its beauty.
