Ancient basilica next Giardino degli Arancio. Built in 5th Century ( several restaurations). Near this church there was Temple of Juno Queen.

The Basilica of Santa Sabina is the oldest existing Basilica in Rome that has preserved its original architectural style. Entering the Basilica, one gets a great feeling of space. Kaleidoscopic light floods in through the windows, reflecting on the walls. And the starred ceiling, sacred art, and chapels adorn every corner. The superb colonnaded arcades create the perspective of the pathway to the Holy of Holies, the Eucharistic altar, and the Corinthian columns were once pillars in a 2nd-century pagan temple. Now they support the roof of the House of the Living God and are decorated with Eucharistic representations. The apse of the Church is crowned by a fresco that depicts the Glorified Christ, above the River of Life. He is surrounded by the apostles St. Peter and Paul and other saints such as St. Sabina and St. Seraphia. This Basilica was built in the 5th century on the site of early Imperial houses, on the property of Christian the martyr Saint Sabina. This big wooden door is particularly precious as it contains the earliest depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in Western art. The door itself is a reminder that no one can arrive to Easter without entering through the door of the death of Jesus Christ in the Cross.

An iconic spot in Rome. The history of this basilica is quite interesting. Built on the ruins of the temple of the Roman goddess Juno. It has a special atmosphere!!

This is a very special place. Home of the Dominican order. Much simpler than what you see in the other lavish Basilicas of Rome. It is worth a visit. Also, it has the added benefit of a spectacular setting. Without climbing to the top of the dome at St Peter’s, this garden is the best view of Rome I’ve seen.

A beautiful basilica originally from the fifth century. Very quiet place. You can see here, among other things, the original mosaic with an inscription confirming the foundation of the church and a door from the 5th century with scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. There is beautiful view of Rome close to the church.
