Nice church. There's a cripta underground, you must pay to enter.

Beautiful little church tucked away in a corner of Trastevere dedicated to the patron saint of music. Nice garden, with a convent also onsite. We happened to be there as a wedding let out, a delight to see Romans all decked out.

A church filled with some great works of art, including Stefano Maderno's famous sculpture of St Cecilia, but don't miss the remarkable Cavallini frescoes in the nuns choir adjacent to the main entry (ask one of the sisters for admission).

As a Roman I often go around the city, but like everyone, the city where you live often is the one you know less. I went there following a friend who is a guide. I discovered this amazing basilica, built on an ancient domus. The crypt under the church is one of most magnificent in Rome. One thing you shoudn't miss, is the visit of cavallino's fresco. Cavallino seems to be the maestro of Giotto. I really suggest a visit if you are in town and you don't wonna see the classical turistic places.

We visited, but saw a poster outside advertising an Amercan college choir singing later that night, for free so we returned. It was magnificent! The acoustics!

Beautiful basilica in a quiet part of Trastevere, on the site of the house where Saint Cecilia was martyred. Originally from the 9th century, the current building is from the 16th century using some elements of the original church. You will see amazing mosaic in the apse from the 9th century or a tombstone with the bones of St. Cecilia. Definitely do not miss the underground (paid entrance) with the foundations of an ancient house of St. Cecilia and a beautifully decorated crypt.

I love the interior of this church and especially Maderno sculpture. Please can someone actually open the church for visitors? Last time I went there it was locked and I was so disappointed! Covid is over isn’t it…

The excellent 13th century frescoes are the reason to come. Very large judgement day and some other fragments. You need to seek permission to go up and see them, for a small fee. There's also a good 9th century mosaic to admire in the church.
