M	Morgan Smith on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You get what you expect. Great views, but totally tourist-oriented. Look, the food & drinks aren’t bad and aren’t too expensive. But the service staff clearly has had too many bad tourists to remain patient with the decent ones. I (perhaps mistakenly) said I didn’t want the pistachios they served with the drinks, and was…very directly told that they will serve whatever they serve and if I choose to eat it or not, up to me. I’d recommend for the view + a drink but definitely eat elsewhere. So many great spots in Varenna.

S	Suzanne DuFore on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best part of eating here on our first night in Varenna is that the experience was so disappointing we decided to make our own dinner and eat at our Airbnb on subsequent days. Beautiful view, inviting tables and then a menu that makes you think it was designed for picky eating children (includes more than a page of 20+ Types of ice cream sundaes). We ordered two risotto dishes and both were terrible. Overly pasty and thick — tasted like it was made with soup stock. The bread was inedible and stale. We had three different waiters for our 1 hour visit and not one was attentive. We had to flag them down for anything at all… a glass of wine, cappuccino, etc. No one seemed to know or care what anyone needed at any table. No smiles or greetings or any type of service. Major attitude and obvious unhappiness from all three makes us think the management is to blame. This is a tourist trap and makes you think they hate Americans and Brits. If you come across it, limit your visit to a cocktail and enjoy the view before you eat elsewhere. And when I saw that their rating in Google was 4.0 I started reading through the reviews. Many of the good reviews are from “local guides”!? Kick backs?? Disgraceful for the restaurant and the guides.
A	Alex Anne Mastroni on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our favorite is the #5 Cantabria, which is the anchovy filets with saffron-flavored butter. We went out and bought more anchovies for snacks later! Everyone is out seated outside, even when it is raining to enjoy the beautiful Lake Como.
P	Pendar Paykari on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent location with fantastic views, but the food and drinks aren’t anything special. The Bruschetta is served as a set of ingredients for you to put together yourself - not amazing. The drinks aren’t too bad, but they seem a lot more impressive on the menu.

It is beautifully located and the yellow themed decor makes it super picture worthy. From what we were told, the terrace that is directly in front of the lake isn’t available if you don’t have a reservation, but you still get a pretty nice view from the other side. The drinks were very good and not too pricey, we ordered two aperol spritz. The food was good, but it’s definitely not authentic italian food, if that’s what you’re looking for. The price is very reasonable for the portion and the service is quick and friendly.
