BEWARE! From our experience, the Alamo rental service at Palermo Airport, Sicily appears to be run as a complete con. We paid considerably more than alternative car rentals because we thought Alamo was a reputable company. Not in Sicily it turns out! They found tiny scratches on the wheel hubs of both our car and the one our friends had rented and then charged ridiculous amounts on top of the already expensive rental. The staff were extremely rude and threatened that if we did not agree to these charges, our excess insurance would not refund us. I understand this is a franchise, so it may be that the company is properly run in other countries, but I would strongly recommend you avoid being ripped off by Alamo at Palermo Airport, Sicily.

We arrived at 8am, when they are meant to open. We were the 3rd car to arrive. The staff were about 10 minutes late and then proceeded to start checking in the cars in reverse order so that people newly arriving were seen immediately and those of us who had already been waiting the longest had to wait even more. My Italian companion asked about this and was dismissed. It took over 30 minutes before we could leave the car, forcing us to miss 3 shuttles to the airport. Truly terrible service.

They just close office and didnt wait for us to pick up a car that was already paid. Dalayed flight, 20 min late. Nobody answered the phone. DindnΒ΄t contact us at all, just left the shop and closed. Left us without a car in the middle of the night. ALL other rental-offices was open and waited for their customers to arrive from their delayed flights, before they close shop. We had to rent another car from a better office but at double price.

No problem with the rental. Hiring and returning the car was easy enough. The Alamo signage is literally non-visible at the airport. You would need get the shuttle bus to the car rental area where all the car rental companies are. There was a long queue at the shuttle bus stop so I ended up walking to the site which was easy enough and takes about 9min. Again Alamo sign is not easy to find so you would look for LOCAUTO sign in blue as they run the rental for Alamo (and National, Enterprise). So that was the hard part and it’s pretty straight forward after this. ??

Worst experience ever. They declined to provide me a car which was already paid. Reason is my new premium MasterCard without number on it (like Apple Card). These guys are so stupid that they were not able to update their internal policy for 3 years since that kind of cards were introduced by banks all around the world. In addition to that stuff was extremely rude and incompetent. I would avoid using them again.

The car was exactly what I expected and everything was spot on. Moreover, I would like to mention the great service provided by Francesco. He brilliantly handled both the check-in and the check-out of the car, explaining all the info I needed to know! Highly suggested.

Perfectly good experience. When you arrive you need to walk straight on to a roundabout and turn right (10 min walk) or take a shuttle which seemed to take a lot longer. That’s where all the rental cars are - not just theirs. Would definitely get the full β€˜don’t worry’ insurance based on the driving we experienced in Napoli, but honestly no problems at all - very quick and easy

Worst experience ever. These guys are real life thieves, they are paid to steal your money. I rented a car in Rome and dropped it off in Napoli. When I met the Napoli mafia that work in the airport rentals, and I must add they manage most of the companies, enterprise, alamo etc they charged me $520 euros for damages, which happens to be very close to the $500 they took as deposit, very convenient right? Well they started looking for scratches were none existed, even tried to charged me for a cover piece that was there but just a bit off and with a small hand push you could fit it just right. Real thieves, they must get paid extra bucks on top of what they steal from you. I have been renting cars all over the world for years and this has no comparison with anything i have seen or heard before. I am attaching an image of the scratch they charged me for, for a car that had 30k kms on it, and I didn’t scratch it, at all, and they said that was me and I needed to pay for it. Dont let them steal from you
