Numerose targhe adornano i fianchi della torre compresa una bellissima targa che fa riferimento alla Vergine Nera di Loreto. Davvero ben tenuta, merita sicuramente una visita. Alta 36 mt, dalla sua cima si gode di una vista a 360° senza eguali. La costruzione risale al XIIsecolo e rimane isolata a lato della piazza dopo la demolizione del palazzo comunale nel 1872. All'interno, in periodi diversi si tengono varie mostre. Noi arrivati dal parcheggio centrale per salire al borgo abbiamo percorso una bella scalinata e ci siamo trovati subito in questo contesto spettacolare. L'attuale merlatura ghibellina su beccatelli, sporgente dalla sommità è frutto del rifacimento revival neogotico ottocentesco: la pianta è quadrata, è decorata da una targa marmorea a rilievo dedicato ai Caduti nella Grande Guerra, opera di Guido Cirilli (1923), poi un grande rilievo bronzeo monumentale ritraente Traslazione della Santa Casa di Loreto opera di Pier Paolo Jacometti (1634), un orologio civico in alto il cui quadrante risale al 1562, un leone rampante raffigurato nello stemma civico, scolpito dal Sansovino, e infine la cella campanaria interna. La torre è visitabile, ospita all'interno il MUREC (Museo di Recanati, allestito lungo i sette livelli della torre, ed è possibile salire sino in cima per ammirare il panorama).
