β β β β β I am at a loss why this airport is so poorly managed. The first part of our experience was great - the check in staff were very helpful and security was quick and smooth at 6am when we arrived. However the cafes are limited - only a few selections which offer the same items and the seating sparse given how many travellers pass through during winter. People were lying on the floor and finding anywhere they could to rest and maintain social distancing.
The real shocker came when we went to our gate. It was called early but we turned into the good court to find hundreds of people all waiting to pass through passport security with only two polizia at the desks. It got so bad that multiple flights were delayed by over 30 minutes and passengers were panicked and late even though they arrived early. None of the gates 14-22 had anyone sitting waiting as everyone had to run to the planes once through.
It didn't get better at the gates either - we watched a suitcase fly off the baggage truck airside, and the woman organising our passage from terminal to plane was hailing down passing buses asking them to take us. No organisation whatsoever and I'm seriously concerned by their air safety protocols. I will actively avoid in the future, which is a shame because Piedmont is a beautiful place.

β β β β β **Going from gates 14-22? Read this**
Short version:
+ Lounge is okay and reasonably priced
+ Relatively clean
- Disorganised in every way possible, from food queues to core airport functions
- Very long waiting times for passport control
- Ground handling is poor
- Ground safety is poor
Long version:
Passport control is EXCEPTIONALLY inefficient. Two positions, two huge queues (300+ people) sprawling through most of the food court. Start are unhelpful, clueless and indifferent.
Many who had been in the queue for 30+ minutes now found their flights were on their last call.
No thought to covid compliance either - FFP2 are pointless when you're queuing with half of the airport's passengers in your immediate vicinity.
As soon as your gate appears on the screen, get queuing. I'm surprised this airport manages to function at all.
Once finally through passport control we were held waiting for a bus to the aircraft, which took 30 minutes.
Most of the drivers airside were on their phones, and one baggage truck with three very poorly loaded trailers threw a suitcase off as it turned a corner.
There is a lot of litter and overflowing bins airside also, encouraging pests and birds, and potentially leading to Foreign Object Debris.
Blown away there hasn't been an accident or incident at this airport yet. It's a shocker from start to finish.

β β β β β We arrived to the airport on time, but we were late to our flight for an hour. Both security control and passport check were extremely slow just because there were only a couple passes open to get through them. After we had seated, the airport's system broke down, and we had to get through the passport check again right from the board. Our flight was delayed for extra 30 minutes.

β β β β β After taking 2hrs to get through passport control on way into Italy, apparently due to an baggage handing equipment failure our plane was delayed by 1.5hrs and then our cases didn't arrive in Newcastle.
Probably the most poorly managed airport I've visited ?

β β β β β A useful airport. It is not very close to the city. Access is by taxi or bus.

β β β β β Food was fantastic in the airport 5 stars for that. The whole experience was normal up to the point of police security where it took officers 50 minutes to check approximately 40 people's passports. Everywhere else in Europe that I have been to, passport control is much faster. No, it's not that officers do what they can to have this process running as smooth as possible. They took their time with everything they did! Even the simple task of placing a stamp on the passport was done like in a slow motion. No, we did not arrive late at the airport, no the airport wasn't packed with people. We were there over 3 hours in advance and barely made it to the plane. Police officers checking passports on Torino airport today, Shame on you!

β β β β β Airport is clean, everything is very fast and the restaurants were open early in the morning Which was a really big plus.
We didn't have to wait long dor anything and it all went smoothly.
We didnt see a place to buy a SIM card in the airport which was a little disappointing.
