A	Alessio Fauni on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quel che rimane è ben poco, semplicemente la parte subito antistante alle fondamenta, che ci fa presupporre all'incirca la forma planimetrica di quello che doveva essere questo luogo di culto di epoca romana, andato ormai quasi del tutto perduto a causa del grandissimo lasso di tempo passato che ne ha deteriorato tutta la struttura sovrastante. Inserito comunque in un bellissimo contesto storico. What remains is very little, simply the part immediately in front of the foundations, which makes us assume roughly the planimetric form of what this place of worship of Roman times must have been, now almost completely lost due to the very large lapse of past time that has deteriorated the entire structure above. However inserted in a beautiful historical context.

G	Gianluca Pica on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Del Tempio di Giano si vede ben poco esternamente, giusto una fila di colonne lungo il lato sinistro della Chiesa di San Nicola in Carcere ed altre rimanenze archeologiche sullo spiazzo antistante. Ma anche da guida turistica locale rimango affascinato dal pensare che, nonostante tutto, ciò che rimane visibile ad i nostri occhi appartiene ad un complesso templare del III secolo a.C., e che forse anche grazie alla realizzazione della chiesa cristiana è in parte sopravvissuto. Consiglio, su visita guidata e prenotazione, di recarvi presso i sotterranei della Chiesa di San Nicola in Carcere per poter meglio vedere il podio dell'antico tempio, con alcune basi delle colonne e lo spigolo molto aggettante che portava verso il lato posteriore. Il tempio non aveva colonne dietro ma solo ai lati e di fronte (si definisce tempio postilo), ed era dedicato alla divinità autoctona Giano, dio degli opposti e dei passaggi (vita - morte, interno - esterno, inizio - fine). Of the Tempio di Giano one sees very little from the outside, just a row of columns along the left side of the Church of San Nicola in Carcere and other archaeological remains on the open space in front. But even as a local tour guide I am fascinated by the thought that, despite everything, what remains visible to our eyes belongs to a temple complex of the third century BC, and that perhaps thanks to the construction of the Christian church it has partly survived. I recommend, on guided tour and booking, to go to the basement of the Church of San Nicola in Carcere to be able to better see the podium of the ancient temple, with some bases of the columns and the very protruding edge that led to the rear side. The temple had no columns behind but only on the sides and in front (it is called the posthumous temple), and was dedicated to the indigenous divinity Janus, god of opposites and passages (life - death, interior - exterior, beginning - end).
