Our first big "thing" we saw in Rome. So beautiful. Probably our favorite monument so far. Climb the stairs all the way up for a beautiful view of the city and the Coloseum. Lots of stairs, but they are manageable. Simply amazing!!!

You can visit for free to see the main part of the Altar. There was no wait when we visited even though it was very packed. There is a restaurant at the end as well a paid lift that takes you to the very top. Besides that you get a great view of the surrounding area such as the Roman Forum.

Absolutely stunning place to visit. The workmanship that went into building it is immense! Plenty of stairs but unfortunately didn't see any ramps so possibly not wheelchair friendly. The rooftop view is amazing. You can see so much of Rome from there. Would recommend a trip there.

A must visit while in Rome. From the top of the facade the views of the Rome city center are magnificent. You can also get a birds eye view of the Roma Forum and the Colosseum from the top. The entry is free, but you have to buy a ticket if you want to take the elevator to the absolute top for even better views of the city.

According to historical accounts, construction on the "Alter of the Fatherland" began in 1885 and was finished in 1935 in honour of Victor Emmanuel II, Italy's first King, for his unification of the country. The monument is known as Vittoriano in modern Italian. According to the tour guide, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities is currently in charge of this monument. I was taken aback when I saw this stunning monument with such a deep historical past. Indeed, the monument contains significant components that make up "Alter of the Fatherland." There is a shrine to the goddess Rome first, followed by a memorial to an anonymous Italian soldier who gave his life for his country. The monument is one of Rome's most impressive ancient buildings, and it can be seen from different angles when standing on the upper floors of a building. It's wonderful to be here learning about history.

Stunning building!! Free to enter & virtually no tourists as they all drive & walk past this place to reach the colleseum down the road. Definitely worth a visit & do not miss the elevator round the back of the building that takes you up to the roof for amazing 360 views of Rome.

Most amazing place in Rome. Historical and political values are very rich of this building. Roman forums are just behind this building. Trajan's forum and Colosseum are also very near by of this monument. Very big white building can attract anyone at anytime. All the the time Italian soldiers are giving gaurd of honor to the burning flame. In front of this building's very big wide square is well decorated by the grass and flowers. At Christmas this square is more beautiful. Mussolini's balcony what is famous for the second world war is here. Overall tourist can't avoid this place. It is a must seeing place in Rome. Simply awesome.

A place you cannot miss in Rome. This place is beautiful and massive that it really is something to look at. Saw it during the night with the downside that it closes so you cannot get closer than the outside but you still can view the entirety of it. This is one of the largest structures in Rome that you can see it tower over other nearby buildings, truly a spectacular thing to see and one of my favorite if not my favorite thing I saw while in Rome!
