β β β β β The Victor Emmanuel II is a large national monument built between 1885 and 1935 to honour Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of a unified Italy. It occupies a site between the Piazza Venezia and the Capitoline Hill. The piazza is at the foot of the Capitoline Hill and next to Trajan's Forum. The main artery, the Via di Fori Imperiali begins there and leads past the Roman Forum to the Colosseum. Smoke a cigar and enjoy a drink in nearby cafes.

β β β β β It provides a beautiful view of all adjacent sites, and the statue is amazingly detailed. I just dont understand why horse balls were so necessary in such detail...but I'm not a sculptor. Regardless, the top provides vantage for amazing photos. The history and the epic architectural stonework is breath taking. You won't be disappointed stopping here.

β β β β β A must-see for a trip to Rome. Amazing place in the heart of the old town. Surrounded by monuments, basilicas contrasting with beautiful nature. A monumental building showing the power of the Roman Empire. Beautiful decorations, sculptures and views of old Rome and the Vatican. In the background the colosseum. Very clean, you can see that it is an important cultural point of Rome. I recommend that you see it with your own eyes even when passing through Rome.
