★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On top of the stairs to Capitolium the statues of the Dioscuri (young gods) twin half-brothers Castor and Pollux, being excellent horsemen are portrayed with horses. Leda was their mother but king Tyndareus was father to Castor, while Pollux was son of Zeus (disguised as a swan). At their death they were transformed into the Gemini (twins) constellation.
Unearthed in 1561 at the Temple of Castor and Pollux, were erected here in 1583.
