Prima di insediarsi a Roma, concluse la sua guerra e la pace con i Germani. Giunto a Roma nel 99 avviò riforme e vaste opere tra le.quali la costruzione di acquedotti, terme, lavori ai porti di Ostia, Terracina, Civitavecchia, Ancona ed il rifacimento delle strade consolari. Riorganizzò l'esercito e portò avanti molte imprese militari. Il periodo dell'impero di Traiano fu uno dei più floridi dell'Impero di Roma. Marco Ulpio Traiano, was born in Italica (current Spain). Che volti avevano, che tagli di capelli? come vestivano? Traiano, Giulio Cesare.. sono solo alcuni dei grandi nomi che si incontrano passeggiando per i fori. Lo stato di conservazione lascia un po' a desiderare.
