La struttura religiosa, in passato, altro non era che una piccola cappella gentilizia costruita intorno alla metà del XVI secolo dal nobile spagnolo Annibale de Troyanis y Mortella e dedicata a Sant'Orsola. Nel 1569 fu donata ai padri dell'Ordine di Santa Maria della Mercede, che nel 1576 la demolirono per far posto ad una fabbrica più grande a cui fu annesso il nuovo convento. Nel 1850 la chiesa fu rimaneggiata; nel 1875 il chiostro che ospitava il cimitero dei monaci fu demolito e al suo posto fu costruito il Teatro Sannazaro. Il convento continuò ad essere abitato dai Padri Mercedari fino al 1923
The religious structure, in the past, was nothing more than a small noble chapel built around the middle of the 16th century by the Spanish nobleman Annibale de Troyanis y Mortella and dedicated to Sant'Orsola. In 1569 it was donated to the fathers of the Order of Santa Maria della Mercede, who in 1576 demolished it to make way for a larger factory to which the new convent was annexed. In 1850 the church was remodeled; in 1875 the cloister that housed the monks' cemetery was demolished and the Sannazaro Theater was built in its place. The convent continued to be inhabited by the Mercedari Fathers until 1923

Chiesa stupenda magnifica tra la gente di Napoli porta una grande tradizione per le donne che desiderano un bimbo oppure incinte vogliono protezione per il loro parto c'è un grande santo intercessore per le donne sterili e incinte San Raimondo non nato consiglio a tutti di visitarla è bellissima
