The most beautiful square in Europe, surely. Yet it was largely ignored until recently, and then bars and restaurants started locating there. The portico in the North West corner is one of the only works of Fra Giacomo. A real rarity. Dante is in the middle of the square. Check out the tombs of the Scaligeri at the north east of the square. To the east there are glass panels in the floor where you can see the old Roman town. Torre del Lamberti is a must see - don't be scared, so to the top, where can discern the Roman, Scaligeri and then Venetian layout of the city. There you'll see some stairs and know what the rulers of Verona were called the Scaligeri (of the stairs). Make sure you go a little outside the square to the south east, where you'll find the stairs and architecture of the back of Piazza Erbe. Quite a sight.

A quiet square off of the main square, "Dante Plazza" is a nice place to sit for a meal, espresso, or gelato away from the crowds of tourists and shoppers.

Fantastic, beautiful, impressive, preserved and shows what Italy relly is... Crowd, jam, stack, stands, booths... But, still allways intersting and alive... Alive is best tem describing it... Thats Italy!

A piazza that dates from the Middle Age and is in the historical center of a very interesting city deserves to be seen. Also known as Piazza Dante (after all, there's a statue of the great writer there), it's framed by beautiful buildings and arcades.

Piazza dei Signori, also known as Piazza Dante, is a square located in the historic center of Verona, near Piazza Delle Erbe. The square originated in the Middle Ages by the development of Scaliger Palaces and from the very beginning, he took on political, administrative and representative functions. The square is framed by some monumental buildings that are interconnected by arches and loggias.
