Ciononostante l'area archeologica, posta sotto ad un lavandaio d'epoca medievale, è davvero suggestiva e mostra i resti del grande capitolium della città di Verona. L'ingresso è gratuito e un video posto dietro ai reperti spiega in modo chiaro e divertente la storia di ciò che si può ammirare. Personale cortese. Hidden place and little known even by the Veronese themselves. Nevertheless, the archaeological area, located under a medieval washerman, is truly impressive and shows the remains of the great capitolium of the city of Verona. Admission is free and a video placed behind the exhibits explains the history of what can be admired in a clear and entertaining way. Courteous staff.

Una parte di Verona nascosta da non perdere assolutamente. Consiglio a tutti gli amanti della storia di chiamare e prenotare una visita a questo luogo sotterraneo dove si possono ammirare resti romani del Capitolium. Se avete la possibilità prenotate una visita guidata con uno degli archeologi che ha lavorato sul posto, non ve ne pentirete. Un plauso speciale alla nostra guida, la dott.sa Marzia Bersani per l’entusiasmo e la competenza mostrataci! Una Verona diversa, la Verona che oggi non si può più vedere se non nel cardo e decumano che ancora si vedono dall’alto. M	Massimo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Oggi 10 aprile 2022 L area archeologica é aperta e si può visitare. Bellissimo vedere come sotto 10 metri del terreno attuale, esistesse una città migliaia di anni fa. Davvero una città piena di storia e di cultura. Consiglio di fare un breve giro. La piazza è un luogo profondamente legato alla lavorazione delle lane, come il toponimo stesso attesta: "sgarzarie" è infatti un termine veronese che si riferisce alle "scardasserie" o carderie, luoghi deputati all'attività di cardatura Today April 10, 2022 The archaeological area is open and can be visited. S	Sergio Saved on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Si tratta di un’area archeologica in pieno centro storico (vicinissima a Piazza delle Erbe) che racchiude in sintesi la storia della città dall’età romana al Medioevo. Gli scavi, che sono stati condotti dalla Soprintendenza per i beni archeologici del Veneto nel periodo 1988-2004, hanno fatto riemergere alla luce un tratto del portico sotterraneo (criptoportico) che un tempo circondava il Capitolium, cioè il più importante tempio cittadino dedicato alle tre divinità Giove, Minerva, Giunone. Il Tempio, costruito nella seconda metà del I sec. a.C., era largo 35 m (con tre file di sei colonne), e lungo circa 42 m e disponeva di un porticato perimetrale sostenuto dal criptoportico, visitabile nell’area. Tale complesso rimase in vita fino al IV secolo quando, forse a causa di un incendio o per l’avvento del cristianesimo, venne abbandonato. In seguito venne usato (VII-VIII sec.) fino ad un crollo parziale oggi visibile nell’area archeologica con evidenza delle volte. L’area della Loggia delle Sgarzerie ritornò ad una sua funzione nel XII secolo allorché si stabilirono alcune attività commerciali e famiglia nobili. L’interessante area archeologica, con ingresso gratuito, mostra i resti di quanto detto e di poco altro, come riportato in appositi pannelli informativi. It is an archaeological area in the historic center (very close to Piazza delle Erbe) which summarizes the history of the city from the Roman age to the Middle Ages. The excavations, which were conducted by the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of the Veneto in the period 1988-2004, have brought to light a section of the underground portico (cryptoporticus) that once surrounded the Capitolium, that is the most important city temple dedicated to the three divinities Jupiter, Minerva, Juno. The Temple, built in the second half of the 1st century. BC, it was 35 m wide (with three rows of six columns), and about 42 m long and had a perimeter portico supported by the cryptoporticus, which can be visited in the area. This complex remained alive until the fourth century when, perhaps due to a fire or the advent of Christianity, it was abandoned. Later it was used (7th-8th century) until a partial collapse now visible in the archaeological area with evidence of the vaults. The area of the Loggia delle Sgarzerie returned to its function in the twelfth century when some commercial activities and noble families were established. The interesting archaeological area, with free admission, shows the remains of what has been said and little else, as reported in special information panels.
