★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Menu looks nice but the opening hours are not correct so we walked all the way for nothing, as the restaurant opens at 19:30 and is not open all day long like it says on google maps. Please update the hours so you don’t get frustrated and hungry people wroting bad reviews in the future.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice Osteria our host recommended us to go. Truffel ravioli were fantastic, kids ate crusty pizza and as main we had typical sausages and meat with spinach.
As probably all restaurants in Matera, the location is super cool.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you want authentic Materan cuisine, friendly English speaking waiters, and a beautiful ambience to enjoy your meal, this is the right place. Osteria al casale is mentioned in a nyt magazine article where it received ample praise for the quality of its food. An essential dinner spot for any trip to the 2019 European capital of culture. For a dessert, coffee, liter of water, half liter of table wine, two primi and some cheese and cold cuts we spent 45 euros.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Service was good, the decor is simple and nice. I enjoyed my choices of potato tart with artichoke and pumpkin as an appetizer and the ravioli with truffle and pine nuts. My husband chose the grilled local sausage. It was a little dry and not particularly memorable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very disappointed service! We waited 20 mins for our order taking. I asked to order multiple times. The waiters said to give them a moment, but they never came back. I saw them approaching other tables all the time, but not our table. Even the food was good, my mood was already ruined.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great atmosphere! The food was absolutely delicious. I loved how the wait staff was so in harmony, working together to provide impeccable service, friendly and informative. Our waiter, Fabio, convinced us to try a starter we never would’ve tried on our own and it was sublime. We loved it and would highly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food was good and well cooked but nothing special, I would actually say quite average. The staff is friendly, but too pompous to be an osteria. Over the evening the staff bowed continuously, almost like in a ballet dance, and asked often if everything was ok or good, almost at the point to make me wonder if actually there was something wrong with my food. That being said, better more attention than none, but I was expecting a more easygoing atmosphere. The price was a bit high.
