The Torre dei Marsili is one of the medieval towers of Borgo San Jacopo, in the Oltrarno district of Florence. In the nineteenth century the tower belonged to the goldsmith Giuseppe Sorbi, who decorated the façade with Della Robbia terracotta that can still be seen today. The main one represents an Annunciation, flanked by two statuettes of angels in small niches on two shelves supported by cherubs. The whole is surmounted by a blessing baby Jesus.

Its most characteristic element is a representation of the Annunciation, decorated profusely with garlands, flowers and fruits of various colors, flanked by small niches containing two angels, supported by cherubs. In the highest part we can see a small marble sculpture representing the baby Jesus in the act of blessing. The interior has a quadrangular floor plan and consists of five floors. At the present time it is private property, its visit is not possible, so we will have to settle for contemplating it from the outside.

Torre dei Marsili is one of the beautiful towers of Oltrarno, in the middle of Borgo San Jacopo stands perfectly intact. What used to be the entrance on the street is now the entrance to a room, surmounted by beautiful Della Robbia ceramics in excellent condition despite the weather. On the side of the tower overlooking via Toscanella you can see an ironic terracotta work by a Florentine artist in the 60s: the Madonna del Puzzo placed there to joke about the malodor of the bins placed in the area.
