★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Careful, this is the same restaurant as "ristorante pizzeria" just west of the place, and it deserves the bad reviews.
The waitress was rude and "they don't have tap water"... This place is a tourist trap to me

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We eat here at least once a month, and is usually our go to place for mussels, although their pasta with missoltino (a local dried fish) is also really good.
They don't accept credit cards; but, there are lots of places in Italy that don't. People shouldn't complain about this as it's one of those things - being able to adjust to the country in which one is travelling is part of being a good traveller.
There are also some really good bottles of wine on offer too.
La Piazzetta also offers gluten free pizza; which, as far as I know, is the only place around Menaggio that offers this. Well done!

When we came here for dinner, the restaurant was full so the staff disappeared into the back and re-appeared with an extra table! Service was excellent throughout, but the food was only OK - a little overcooked and not up to the best of the meals we've had on this holiday

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tourist Trap. Definitely avoid this place. Over priced and poor quality. Pizza is not fresh. The “sausage” was a sliced hotdog! They would not provide us with a drink menu and when we asked the server for prices of the beverages he said he had forgotten them...stay away. (The positive reviews and photos are obviously from ownership. Our food did not look even close to the posted photos.)
