Consiglio di chiamare prima le monache per sapere gli orari effettivi dell'area archeologica perché gli orari che hanno dato a loro sono diversi da quelli esposti dalla sovrintendenza all'ingresso. What a shame, to put the (already restricted) opening hours in August and then not respect them! I recommend calling the nuns first to find out the actual times of the archaeological area because the times they have given them are different from those displayed by the superintendent at the entrance.

Ci servirebbe un po' più di cura per i turisti, i cartelloni informativi sono fatiscenti e quasi incomprensibili One of the most beautiful places visited so far. In parte sopravvissuta alla distruzione degli arabi nell'anno 881, é stata smantellata in seguito per riutilizzare i relatovi materiali nella costruzione della nuova Abbazia (500 metri piú avanti). Conserva comunque le tracce della antica imponenza. Very beautiful. Partly surviving the destruction of the Arabs in the year 881, it was later dismantled to reuse the materials in the construction of the new Abbey (500 meters further on). It still preserves the traces of the ancient grandeur.
B	Biagio Blassi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Complesso dall'eccezionale valore storico ma tenuto malissimo. Assenza di manutenzione, coperture a tubi giunti troppo basse, pannelli illeggibili... Peccato! Complex of exceptional historical value but in very poor condition. No maintenance, pipe covers that are too low, unreadable panels ... Too bad!

Tra l'altro è stato difficile da trovare il sito viste le scarse indicazioni stradali. Un po' meglio iella del V secolo che però era già chiusa al nostro arrivo. The church was a disappointment, dark and with white plastered walls, no furniture or a fresco. Among other things, it was difficult to find the site given the poor directions. A little better bad luck from the 5th century which, however, was already closed when we arrived.

Ho trovato la cartellonistica molto utile per capire in quali ambienti dell'epoca ci si trovasse e la relativa funzione. Purtroppo alcuni cartelli erano rovinati dalle intemperie e non più leggibili (e a differenza di Altilia dove l'accesso è gratuito, qui si paga e ci si aspetterebbe maggior cura nei confronti dei visitatori). Molto bella la cripta coi suoi affreschi, ma purtroppo è stata molto breve la permanenza all'interno (anche se per giuste motivazioni). Il ponte in pietra di accesso al complesso che attraversa il Volturno (che in quel punto è poco più di un torrente) purtroppo è stato rovinato da una gettata di cemento. Very interesting to turn among the ruins of this basilica and annexed buildings. I found the signage very useful to understand in which rooms of the time we were and their function. Unfortunately some of the signs were damaged by the weather and no longer legible (and unlike Altilia where access is free, here you pay and you would expect more care towards visitors). The crypt with its frescoes is very beautiful, but unfortunately the stay inside was very short (even if for the right reasons). The stone bridge leading to the complex that crosses the Volturno (which at that point is little more than a stream) has unfortunately been ruined by a concrete pour.
p	pietro martinelli on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La basilica maggiore, consacrata nell'808 e dedicata a San Vincenzo da Saragozza, presenta tre navate absidate, l'altare rialzato e la cripta semianulare affrescata per ospitare le reliquie del santo. Ad est proseguiva con l'atrio nel quale erano collocate le tombe, intonacate e dipinte, del monaci e dei loro abati. All'atrio si accedeva da una imponente scalinata sotto la quale vi erano le officine per la produzione dei manufatti. Complessivamente la basilica misurava 30 metri di larghezza per circa 110 di lunghezza. The main basilica, consecrated in 808 and dedicated to San Vincenzo da Saragozza, has three apsed aisles, a raised altar and a semi-annular crypt frescoed to house the relics of the saint. To the east it continued with the atrium in which the tombs, plastered and painted, of the monks and their abbots were located. The atrium was accessed by an imposing staircase under which there were the workshops for the production of artifacts. Overall, the basilica measured 30 meters in width by about 110 in length.
