Da qualche anno è stato comprato da un'industriale italiano che avrebbe intenzione di fare un serio restauro, ma a quanto pare la burocrazia italiana e quella vaticana (per metà è ancora proprietà della Chiesa) frappongono mille ostacoli. Vedremo. We were lucky enough to find the caretaker who was really kind and let us in. Thanks Salvatore. For some years it has been bought by an Italian industrialist who would intend to do a serious restoration, but apparently the Italian and Vatican bureaucracies (half of which is still the property of the Church) stand in the way of thousands of obstacles. We'll see.

The castle is closed and inaccessible, but the location and nature reserve are exceptional. It can also be reached on foot and by bicycle.
P	Pochet01 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Non diciamo boiate il castello è di un un'industriale ben noto italiano che non lo vuole ristrutturare e anzi lo ha messo in vendita..non c'entra nulla il vaticano e la burocrazia spaventa il tizio non altri evidentemente che comprano e ristrutturano,la burocrazia è uguale x tutti, se il tizio non ristruttura è per sua volontà. Posto bellissimo della prov di Siena, consiglio sulla stessa strada e stessa provincia sia Anqua che la tenuta del Solaio, posti che rimettono a posto l'anima Let's not say boiate the castle belongs to a well-known Italian industrialist who does not want to renovate it and has actually put it up for sale .. the Vatican has nothing to do with it and the bureaucracy scares the guy not others who obviously buy and renovate, the bureaucracy is the same for all, if the guy does not restructure it is by his will. Beautiful place in the province of Siena, I recommend both Anqua and the Solaio estate on the same road and province, places that restore the soul
M	Michele Reami on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Posto stupendo, soprattutto la strada sterrata che porta a Gelfalco, merita una bella passeggiata. Peccato che il castello sia inaccessibile e piuttosto messo male. Meriterebbe ben altro trattamento. Wonderful place, especially the dirt road that leads to Gelfalco, deserves a nice walk. Too bad that the castle is inaccessible and rather badly placed. It deserves much more treatment.

A	Alessio Guiggi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fino agli anni '90 era un posto meraviglioso, non tanto per il monumento di per sè (che, seppur già malandato, non era totalmente in rovina com'è adesso), ma per la spettacolarità del luogo nel suo insieme: un castello medievale con un alta torre merlata edificato su un aspro dirupo roccioso a precipizio su una stretta gola boscosa solcata da un torrente freddo e rumoreggiante. Un ambiente suggestivo immerso in una natura incontaminata. Oggi il maniero - appartenuto ai Vescovi di Volterra che lo realizzarono intorno al X° secolo a guardia delle miniere d’argento sparse nella vicina zona di Poggio Mutti - ed il suo minuscolo borgo sono inaccessibili, blindati come un bunker, avviluppati da un'intricata forra ed abbandonati ad un inspiegabile degrado che addolora oltremodo. Non vale più la pena visitare il Castello di Fosini, è impossibile. Rimane soltanto un motivo che può in qualche modo giustificare il viaggio: la vista del castello - con il baratro sotto, la vetta delle Cornate sulla destra, il paese di Castelnuovo sulla sinistra e Volterra sullo sfondo - che si gode dal punto panoramico posto su un picco poco più avanti del prospicente Poggio Mutti: solo da qui, infatti, si può ancora immaginare il fiabesco Castello di Fosini. Until the 90s it was a wonderful place, not so much for the monument itself (which, although already run down, was not totally in ruins as it is now), but for the spectacular nature of the place as a whole: a medieval castle with a high crenellated tower built on a rugged rocky precipice over a narrow wooded gorge crossed by a cold and roaring torrent. A suggestive environment immersed in unspoiled nature. Today the manor - which belonged to the Bishops of Volterra who built it around the 10th century to guard the silver mines scattered in the nearby area of Poggio Mutti - and its tiny village are inaccessible, armored like a bunker, enveloped by an intricate gorge and abandoned to an inexplicable degradation that pains beyond measure. It is no longer worth visiting the Castello di Fosini, it is impossible. There remains only one reason that can somehow justify the trip: the view of the castle - with the chasm below, the summit of the Cornate on the right, the village of Castelnuovo on the left and Volterra in the background - which can be enjoyed from the panoramic point on a peak just ahead of the facing Poggio Mutti: only from here, in fact, can you still imagine the fairytale Castello di Fosini.
P	Paolo Sozzi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Castello molto suggestivo situato all'interno della omonima riserva. Costruito su di un dirupo con sotto un torrente, tanto che potrebbe essere il set di un film. Peccato che non sia più possibile visitarlo. Per gli amanti del trekking: sappiate che si può facilmente raggiungere però c'è solo un sentiero, qui serve fare tutto il dislivello al ritorno. Very impressive castle located within the reserve of the same name. Built on a cliff with a stream underneath, so much so that it could be a movie set. Too bad it is no longer possible to visit it. For trekking lovers: know that it can be easily reached but there is only one path, here you need to do the whole difference in altitude on the way back.
