Particolarmente suggestiva la visita guidata interna volta alla valorizzazione dei suoi affreschi, dei paramenti sacri e alla storia della Chiesa più antica di Siracusa. E' possibile visitarla autonomamente (all'interno vi sono delle didascalie) oppure usufruire di una breve visita guidata (consigliata) che permette di scoprire l'incredibile stratificazione storica di questo edificio utilizzato come luogo di culto dall'epoca paleocristiana per poi proseguire con Bizantini, Normanni, Aragonesi. All'interno vi sono anche tracce di affreschi bizantini, tra i più antichi di Sicilia. The church of San Pietro is a small hidden gem of Ortigia. Hidden in the alleys are the remains of one of the oldest churches in the city. It is possible to visit it independently (inside there are captions) or take advantage of a short guided tour (recommended) that allows you to discover the incredible historical stratification of this building used as a place of worship since the early Christian era and then continue with the Byzantines , Normans, Aragonese. Inside there are also traces of Byzantine frescoes, among the oldest in Sicily.

f	federico gritti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa più antica di Siracusa... nelle strette vie di Ortigia, una testimonianza sacra di origine paleocristiana del 326 D.C. di rara bellezza, dove è possibile leggere osservando le sue mura la successione e l'evoluzione della struttura (compresa la recente ristrutturazione) che ha permesso che arrivasse a noi dopo 1700 anni di storia. Visitata dopo il calar del Sole sulle note di Canti Gregoriani, essa desta molta attenzione anche per il contenuto museale al suo interno: sono infatti presenti drappi funebri, abbigliamento ecclesiastico originale molto ben conservato, oltre ad un Cristo ligneo e alcuni crocefissi da processione antichi. La guida è molto preparata e svolge con passione il suo lavoro. È disponibile anche a confrontarsi rispondendo con cura e dedizione alle domande dei visitatori. Nella navata centrale si trova un'installazione lignea moderna (recente ristrutturazione) che vuole riprodurre l'antica volumetria e scherma le capriate che sorreggono la copertura. Se si è amanti della storia dell'architettura sacra consiglio vivamente di visitare questo luogo, di fatto ancora consacrato, con rispetto e spirito di umiltà, perché la sensazione che pervade chi la visita è di porsi di fronte ad un monumento che ha visto migliaia di persone affidare preghiere e speranze durante i secoli, e così lo dovrà fare anche negli anni a venire. Visited after sunset on the notes of Gregorian chants, it also arouses much attention for the museum content inside: there are in fact funeral drapes, very well preserved original ecclesiastical clothing, as well as a wooden Christ and some ancient procession crucifixes. The guide is very knowledgeable and does his job with passion. It is also available to discuss by answering visitors' questions with care and dedication. In the central nave there is a modern wooden installation (recent renovation) which aims to reproduce the ancient volume and shields the trusses that support the roof. If you are a lover of the history of sacred architecture, I highly recommend visiting this place, still consecrated, with respect and a spirit of humility, because the feeling that pervades those who visit it is to stand in front of a monument that has seen thousands of people entrust prayers and hopes throughout the ages, and so will have to do so in years to come. Sicuramente per 3 euro in più (5 euro totali) vale la pena fare la visita guidata. La guida è molto gentile e preparatissima!
