 Very nice. At the main altar there is "The burial of Saint Lucia" by Caravaggio.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È molto antica. I lavori per l'edificazione risalgono a circa mille anni fa. Non si può contestare lo stile architettonico che ha avuto supporti da Vermexio e da artisti di rilievo con risultati eccellenti. L'annesso e separato edificio del Sepolcro ( Di Santa Lucia) completa l'immagine suggestiva della chiesa che trionfa nello spazio quadridimensionale della piazza. Resiste alle forze del tempo e alle provocazioni della natura. C'era un Caravaggio dietro l'altare maggiore. C'è da temere per la sua sorte , sballottolato fra la Badia, il museo Bellomo e chissà dove. Nel percorso del turismo di religione è , certo, una tappa obbligata .Reggenza, credo, affidata a preti francescani. Increscioso e dolente l'episodio recente per l'accoglienza di padre Vaccaro. Cosa sia successo non è dato sapere.
It is very old. Construction work dates back to about a thousand years ago. We cannot dispute the architectural style that has had support from Vermexio and important artists with excellent results. The annexed and separated building of the Sepulcher (Di Santa Lucia) completes the evocative image of the church that triumphs in the four-dimensional space of the square. Resists the forces of time and nature's provocations. There was a Caravaggio behind the high altar. It is to be feared for his fate, tossed between the Badia, the Bellomo museum and who knows where. On the path of religious tourism it is, of course, an obligatory stop. I believe it is entrusted to Franciscan priests. The recent episode for the reception of Father Vaccaro is regrettable and painful. What happened is not known.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sempre interessante la visita alla chiesa che ospita la statua e alcune Reliquie della Santa Siracusana nonché il famoso dipinto del Caravaggio che ritrae la sepoltura di Santa Lucia,se pure il corpo custodito a Venezia fosse restituito ai Siracusani si sarebbe davanti a un luogo suggestivo
Always interesting is the visit to the church that houses the statue and some relics of the Saint Siracusana as well as the famous painting by Caravaggio which portrays the burial of Saint Lucia, even if the body kept in Venice were returned to the Syracusans it would be in front of a suggestive place

It is the church where the sepulcher of Santa Lucia and the copy of Caravaggio are found, now in Rome for restoration. I recommend that you visit it with the loving devotion of the sacristan. It is a Franciscan church.

È la chiesa in cui oggi si trova esposto presso l'altare maggiore il dipinto "Seppellimento di Santa Lucia" eseguito da Michelangelo Merisi detto il Caravaggio nel 1608.
Vengono rispettate le norme anticovid.
