La Villa è una delle poche ville medicee aperta al pubblico come museo, ogni domenica mattina (fuori vacanze scolari). La Villa Medicea del Poggio Imperiale è una delle residenze medicee riconosciute dall’Unesco come Patrimonio dell’Umanità. Bravissimi i ragazzi/e del collegio che ci hanno fatto da guida lungo il percorso. I had the opportunity to visit the Medici villa of Poggio Imperiale in April 2019, during the free visit to the villas of Florence. The Villa is one of the few Medici villas open to the public as a museum, every Sunday morning (outside school holidays). The Medici Villa of Poggio Imperiale is one of the Medici residences recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Very good the boys and girls of the college who have been our guide along the way.

La location non ha bisogno di presentazione eravamo nella sala dove ha suonato i lgrande Mozart,,unica grande delusione sempre rivolta all'amministrazione pubblica, è che sono decenni che non viene restaurata e dato una manutenzione adeguata .peccato ! At the presentation of Capezzone's book I noticed the presence of many young people interested in social issues and politics, it is a real pleasure honor to know that an increasingly large group tries to fight against the oppression and dictatorship of the current public administration totally insensitive to the needs of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The location does not need presentation we were in the room where the great Mozart played, the only big disappointment always addressed to the public administration, is that it has not been restored and given adequate maintenance for decades. Too bad!

Posta fuori dalle mura, tra ampi poderi, ebbe qui luogo il duello tra Ludovico Martelli e Giovanni Bandini: all'epoca dell'assedio di Firenze (1529-30) il primo accusò infatti di tradimento il Bandini, che aveva preso la parte degli assedianti, ma pare che il vero motivo di fondo fosse l'amore conteso per l'avvenente Marietta de' Ricci. Lo scontro avvenne il 5 marzo 1530[1], e vide accanto a ciascun sfidante un accompagnatore: Dante da Castiglione per il Martelli (che pare sellasse il formidabile cavallo dell'ambasciatore veneto, morto poco tempo dopo per una palla di cannone e ricordato da una targa ancora esistente in piazza dei Giudici), e Bertino Aldobrandini per il Bandini. I quattro si sfidarono in vesti leggere, senza corazza, né scudo, né elmo. L'amico del Bandini morì per le ferite inflittegli dal Da Castiglione, ma il Bandini si vendicò riducendo in fin di vita il Martelli[2]. La villa fu venduta ai Salviati nel 1548. Cosimo I la confiscò ad Alessandro Salviati nel 1565 per via della sua opposizione al potere mediceo. Cosimo la donò alla figlia Isabella e al marito Paolo Giordano I Orsini. Isabella ebbe una triste sorte, uccisa dal marito nella villa di Cerreto Guidi nel 1576, e la villa passò al figlio della coppia don Virginio Orsini. The name of "Poggio Baroncelli" derives from the name of the first owners of the villa, the Baroncelli. Villa Medicea del Poggio Imperiale is one of the attractions that unfortunately don't get the number of tourists that it deserves, but if you have time and access to a car/taxi it's one of the places that deserves a visit while in Florence.
