A	Alessio Martellotti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Piccola e antichissima chiesa di collina ubicata in posizione dominante...attorno ad essa, si apre il paesaggio collinare a perdita d'occhio! Davvero mozzafiato. Il nome della località -Monteripaldi- pare sia di origine longobarda e le prime notizie risalenti al 1138, segnalano uno “spedale” dedicato all'Arcangelo Michele, accanto al quale venne edificato un monastero femminile. Su una prima chiesa romanica si innestò una più grande che, ebbe nel 1295 il patronato dei Bardi e divenne parrocchia. Durante l'assedio del 1529-30 fu occupata da Baccio Valori, commissario generale del Papa Clemente VII; nel 1548 vi fu rettore Giovanni della Casa, autore del Galateo. Subì notevoli modifiche nel '700 e nel 1871 venne costruito -su progetto dell'ingegner Adolfo Mariani- il bellissimo campanile in stile neogotico. Nel 1962, sono state eseguite ingenti opere di restauro che hanno riportato la chiesa alle sue antiche linee trecentesche. [Cf: targa informativa] Al di là delle sue peculiarità architettoniche, la chiesa si distingue -ripeto- per la sua felice ubicazione panoramica: merita una visita e una tranquilla passeggiata per le circostanti stradine che si perdono tra i campi. Vi si arriva, da Piazzale Michelangelo salendo per Pian Dei Giullari e seguendo poi le indicazioni specifiche per la “Chiesa di San Michele a Monteripaldi”. The name of the place -Monteripaldi- seems to be of Lombard origin and the first news dating back to 1138, indicate a "hospital" dedicated to the Archangel Michael, next to which a female monastery was built. On a first Romanesque church a larger one was inserted, which in 1295 was the patronage of the Bardi family and became a parish. During the siege of 1529-30 it was occupied by Baccio Valori, commissioner general of Pope Clement VII; in 1548 there was rector Giovanni della Casa, author of the Galateo. It underwent considerable changes in the 18th century and in 1871 it was built - on a project by the engineer Adolfo Mariani - the beautiful bell tower in neo-Gothic style. In 1962, extensive restoration works were carried out that brought the church back to its ancient 14th century lines. [Cf: information plate] Beyond its architectural peculiarities, the church stands out -repre- for its happy panoramic position: it deserves a visit and a quiet walk through the surrounding streets that are lost in the fields. You get there, from Piazzale Michelangelo going up to Pian Dei Giullari and then following the specific directions for the "Church of San Michele a Monteripaldi".
