★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place... it has so many recommendations from Michelin guide, that you’ll be surprised. Mel Gibson has his name on one of the dishes, cause he used to dine there while filming “The Passion of the Christ”.
You should also try their “vino della casa” - it is absolutely incredible

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am not quite sure why there are so many Michelin stickers on the window. The meals were only ok. The place is quite cheap and super lively during lunch (actually fully booked!). Maybe people come to try the same dish Mel Gibson got to eat here during his filming. Again, cheap, ok food but nothing special. Service is friendly and easy going

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food is really good at Lucana. The servings are great, the plating is unpretentious, the prices are below the average you find around Matera. The chef itself came out to help with the serving and he made a few jokes with us. The only reasons I wouldn’t give it a 5 stars is the way people have to line up just before the opening to secure a spot. It was one of those where no one knew what they had to do, having 2 different lines. We ended up having a situation with another couple who genuinely thought they were there before us but as a matter of fact we were the first 4 couples waiting, therefore we knew we were in front of them. And the waitress, who is also the daughter of the owners, was great at her job but has a slight tendency of talking to people like if she was their primary school teacher.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best dining in Matera! We came in on a week day because during weekends we couldn’t find a seat. We noticed the restaurant was exceptional already from the “Matera bread” which is the best we tasted in Matera. Not to mention the Cavatelli! Big compliments to the smiling Paolo, our waiter for the dinner. Highly recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I would say that this place is nothing less than exquisite. The food was extremely good and coming from someone who is from India. I can vouch for the meatballs, some of the best that i have ever had in my life. The service was also courteous and the prices are also very reasonable.
We however had to wait half an hour to get into the restaurant on a Saturday, without a reservation :)
