★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Da Mario Restaurant is well known among Matera's residents. It has been opened for more than 30 years and it is a place that famous directors and actors have visited across the years. There is a good selection of pizzas, but also pasta and meat or fish mains. Everything on the menu is high quality so try it you won't be disappointed!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Authentic Italian food served with some warm homely service. Our waiter was very attentive and the owner came over for a chat (in Italian), which gave the night a very special experience. We really enjoyed our pizza and gnocchi pasta, as well as the house wine and delicious dessert. Would definitely recommend!

I think people underrated this restaurant. we came to this restaurant at 9pm and the place had only two tables taken. people tend to go into the sassi to eat and it always overrated there.
but hey! the food here is amazing. we love our fresh calamari with firm thick squid 15e. seafood pasta was so tasteful and has so much seafood in it (15e). my friend had a pizza and it was very special.
service is great. the restaurant is very well arranged and cozy. waiters are super polite and caring. we will come back!
