Per visitare la zona è da suggerire la possibilità di lasciare l'automobile in zona Canalone o Porta San Nicola e discendere per gli ampi gradoni.
Il Convento e la chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie fu fondato grazie a una donazione del 1506 fatta all’ordine dei Gerolimiti.
Il lascito fu fatto affinché nella zona fossero eretti un convento e una chiesa intitolati alla Madonna delle Grazie.
Il convento rimase attivo fino al 1807 quando fu soppresso e divenne presidio militare, per poi essere ripristinato dal Re di Napoli, che lo cedette ai Frati Minori Osservanti del Convento di San Nicola. Nel 1861 divenne Ospizio ed oggi ospita la Pia Casa di Ricovero.
L’aspetto attuale non ha quasi più nulla di quello originale. Troppi i cambi di destinazione e troppe le ristrutturazioni.
In questa zona del Centro Antico gli storici salernitani da decenni cercano la Chiesa di San Bartolomeo de Coriariis, della quale si sono perse le tracce da tempo immemorabile; tra i vari ipotetici luoghi in cui è stata collocata dagli studiosi contemporanei, c’è il sito di Palazzo Conforti in Via Tasso oppure l’area ove nel 2013 è nato il Roseto del Giardino della Minerva in Via Porta di Ronca.
Small and charming place in the center of Salerno, little known perhaps for its location at the top of via Trotula de Ruggiero.
To visit the area it is advisable to leave the car in the Canalone or Porta San Nicola area and go down the large steps.
The convent and church of Santa Maria delle Grazie was founded thanks to a donation of 1506 made to the order of the Gerolimiti.
The bequest was made to build a convent and a church dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie in the area.
The convent remained active until 1807 when it was suppressed and became a military garrison, only to be restored by the King of Naples, who ceded it to the Observant Friars Minor of the Convent of San Nicola. In 1861 it became a hospice and today it houses the Pious Casa di Ricovero.
The current appearance has almost nothing left of the original one. Too many changes of destination and too many renovations.
In this area of the Centro Antico, historians of Salerno have been looking for the Church of San Bartolomeo de Coriariis for decades, of which traces have been lost since time immemorial; among the various hypothetical places where it was placed by contemporary scholars, there is the site of Palazzo Conforti in Via Tasso or the area where the Rose Garden of the Minerva Garden in Via Porta di Ronca was born in 2013.
