★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were pretty much robbed by a guy who offered us a black taxi. He wore a brown jacket and he had greasy black hair. Talked the talk. Very full of himself. His wife drove the taxi. They charged us €95 for our journey when it should only have been €45 which is the legal price taxis are allowed to charge. We didn't know this until after. Be on your guard for this guy. He has clearly done this before and seems to get away with it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ *BEWARE* My hand luggage was broken into and cash stolen!
At Manchester end I had to put my rucksack in the hold, it wasn't on the carousel when I got to Rome Fiumicino Airport. Went to open a 'lost luggage' case and after half an hour was lead back to the carousel to see if it was there. It was. When I opened it my purse had been emptied and all cash taken out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The airport is huge and it’s closed between 23:00 and 03:00 but if you stay there for the transit flight, I suggest to look for the meal and coffee by the gates E, there is a small coffee shop upstairs and by the gates A also upstairs you would find a lounge zone for free

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ No electrical outlets before security. Also no water fountains (before, or in the terminals.) Overall a clean airport but could use a few more conveniences. I was at the airport in April 2022 and it was open 24/7 which was helpful, security doesn't open until 3-3:30 AM though.
