Abysmal! We arrived at 12pm on a Saturday in late June so it was peak season. The layout of the overall car hire area is dreadful - too small, no A/C (it was 39c at the time so pretty horrible). Every single desk - not just Hertz - had huge long queues so there was hardly anywhere to stand, let alone room to walk to your desk. I looked on Twitter and this has happened before so wasn't just an isolated incident on the day in question! When we joined the Hertz queue we took a ticket and could see there were 40 - yes 40 - people in front of us! We finally spoke to a Hertz employee after 2 hours, who processed our booking (done in advance). No apology for the fact we had waited for over 2 hours. We were then told our car wasn't ready (despite having hired it from 12pm - they must overbook) and to go to the garage in 30 mins. We went to the garage 30 minutes later. There was hardly any staff around and more people waiting. In the end we waited in the garage for another 90 minutes - again no A/C. Waiting 4 hours to pick up a car is unacceptable. They must be over-booking cars and are short-staffed because there's clearly not enough staff to cater to the customers. The customer service was dreadful as well. I've used Hertz often when I travel, but I would never use them in Italy again and I would advise anyone to not rent a car from Rome airport in general - the queues looked ridiculous!

flight was a bit early and they said we’d have to wait until our time despite airport feeling empty. Tried to sell us upgrade but wouldn’t check to see if any other cars were available. Price didn’t match reservation. would NOT recommend.

Little people, no queue at all upon our arrival, good choice of FIAT cars, though quite a sensitive difference in money for mechanic and automatic ones abt 50 euros.

3HOURS OF WAITING TIME.......................... By far the worst experience in car rental.. this is the condition I received my car in.. dented all around panel missing on driver's door not to mention they did not reserve the car I wanted. Mirko the guy at the front desk deserves to get slapped in the face.. telling me ( you're going to love this car it's perfect for you and your family) radio would change station on its own or turn off on its own... Hertz you should be EMBARRASSED...

Excellent service. Had no problems during pick up or drop off. There was an unmarked scratch on the car prior the pick up but I've mentioned it to the staff who rectified it promptly and there were no issues upon return. The quality of the fleet is excellent too and the vehicle felt spotlessly clean which is such an important thing in today's environment.

I booked the car listed $15 a day through Priceline. ( seemed reasonable deal ) I came to counter and was told $20 daily full coverage I said ok. For 6 days I was told to pay $183. Now I see in my credit card 2 charges of $200.61 and $243.46 I didn’t damaged the car, Left nice and clean condition with FULL tank

we were told we had to wait 2 hours for the car we reserved. when we asked for a different car we were told we could pay more for a higher car but a smaller car would take 2 hours. online showed smaller cars available now. add to that the price was wrong by over 100 euros. don’t use hertz here. we walked over to Leasys and have had great service so far at a better price than even originally quoted and it’s ready now.

The first car that we rented broke down not long after I had driven out and had to call for breakdown assistance. Thereafter I had to go back to the airport to change to a new car. Returning to the airport, Mustafa heard our plight and felt sorry for us. He tried his best to assist to our needs including finding an auto car (we rented a manual car initially but decided to change to auto, afraid same breakdown situation will happen). His support and care that we get a car within our needs and budget for the next 10 days was truly amazing. We are very happy with his service and service recovery was top notch. He showed us various cars and their trunk space and recommended which are suitable. He went out of his way to do this and we are really grateful and had no issues with the car that we rented for 10 days except that now we are wrongly charged for fuel and am disputing it as I pumped fuel to max capacity at the nearest petrol station which is 10 mins drive away but was charged for not full tank when I returned the car full tank. Overall, really satisfied and amazed to find good service at FCO given all the bad reviews.
