- long wait (45min) for main dishes
- pasta pesto and pasta with clams were both good but not as great as expected from previous reviews
- tables in narrow alley fine, but in the path to storage room
This place has potential and we might have just had one of those off nights or the team is a bit on the newer side. Still a decent meal and definitely felt authentic and not like one of the many tourist traps.

โ โ โ โ โ After reading reviews from Google and TripAdvisor, I excitedly booked our 1st dinner in Cinque Terre here. Quite disappointed. The fried squid was served without lemon. The linguine with clams have no shells (makes me wonder the freshness of itโฆ.), the shrimp sauce pasta was ok. None of our pasta dishes looked like those posted on Google reviews. I wonder whyโฆ.

โ โ โ โ โ Really nice place. Amazing service! Food was very tasty and not fussy. Particularly enjoyed the pumpkin cappuccino and spaghetti Chiattra. Had a really tasty local sparkling wine as well. Great place if you want to avoid some of the other tourist traps in Riomaggiore.

โ โ โ โ โ The restaurant is a bit off the main road, on a very quiet narrow street
The linguini with clams is the best seafood pasta i ever tried, has a very gentle sea scents, and you can still feel the taste of pasta itself.
Tuna tartare also very good and fresh.
Portions are on smaller side, but not a problem as starters like stuffed anchovies (fried with some basil and pecoriono) and oysters can also be recommended!
The waitress was very friendly and open with good wine recommendations.
Note - we had to book 2 days in advance as restaurant is very small but popular

โ โ โ โ โ Out of our week's stay in Cinque Terre, Osteria La Torpedine was our best experience by far. The co-owner, who was also our server, Alicia, was so friendly and kind, and indulged all my questions about Italian cooking. She is super knowledgeable and happy to talk about not only where all our food and wine came from, but also how it's made. The food was amazing, obviously made with love and very fresh ingredients. Tucked off the main street of Riomaggiore, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem and I cannot recommend it enough. A perfect romantic dinner under the fairy lights for our last night in Italy. โ โ โ โ โ Limited seating at this new place in town. We made a reservation and got a nice table in the rustic and very atmospheric alley. We ordered from a hand written menu of very few choices (always a good sign). Selections included just 3 primi and 2 secondi and the daily special. We ordered an antipasto of fresh fried sardines and marinated mussels. So good we asked for more, as a secondo piatto. For our primo piatto I ordered a simple but delicious trofie and pesto and my wife had linguine and clams. The quality of the food was fresh and excellently prepared. Our server was friendly, and with a bottle of Ligurian white wine, only 78 euro. Excellent! Grazie mille.

โ โ โ โ โ Fantastic restaurant! We ordered the steak tartare, raw cuttlefish, raw langoustine pasta and the anchovy pasta. Both pasta sauces were incredible and we were very pleased with every dish
