Very well organized structure, very well prepared guide and the ride on the train inside the mine fascinates young and old. Stop by the museum too, it's worth it.

Worth a visit! Very interesting, the guide who explained to us was extremely competent and prepared. I hope in the future other parts of the mine will open, the place as a tourist attraction has a lot of potential.

Eigentlich schade, was da abgeht. Irgendwie schade - da könnte man echt was draus machen.
It's actually a shame what's going on. There is a great infrastructure - there is enough parking space, a mine, a museum - what more could you want? You might think - unfortunately, the practice looks very different. Apart from a few information boards, everything is just Italian. That's right, the place is in Italy - but only a few kilometers from the Austrian or in the other direction the Slovenian border. Not even the lady at the museum cash desk could speak a few words of German - and certainly not English. At least she managed to show me by means of a note that there will only be a guided tour of the mine at 3 p.m. (maybe) - because there are too few people at 10. I got the information at half past nine - so you weren't really optimistic - or willing. Besides me, there were a few other people (about 10) on the way in the vicinity of the mine - maybe they just couldn't find the badly signposted sales point for the tickets. There is also a small sign "Tickets for visiting the museum ticket office" right next to the tunnel. But first you have to go to the tunnel - because you can't see it from a distance. Somehow a shame - you could really make something out of it. I didn't go there again at 3 p.m. because I didn't want to reschedule my day after visiting a mine, which I have learned in the meantime is only done in Italian. The lady in the café across the street from the museum told me that - in crumbling English - motto: what, you can't speak Italian - that's not good for the tour ...

To visit it is absolutely worth it ... all very nice and a bit out of time including the village of Cave del Predil.

Visible mines with guided walk and train. Best to book because only 23 people can be transported. Inside the temperature is 6 ° so it is better to wear a jacket

Coprirsi bene (6 gradi all'interno).
The visit takes place by train and on foot. Cover up well (6 degrees inside). More than 100 km of tunnels, on several floors. During the First World War it was used by Austro-Hungarian soldiers as a passage, sheltered from bombing and hidden from the eyes of the Italians. During the period of the border with Yugoslavia, the carabinieri, every day, at the end of the work shift, after realizing that there was no longer anyone inside, placed seals on the gates, since workers could enter both from Italy and from Yugoslavia.
