Was kind of hesitant about renting a car in Rome after reading some of their horrendous reviews. I picked Hertz ( THIS LOCATION) because it had the most positive reviews of any other in Rome. I arrived to pick up the car at 8am ( as I had indicated) the 2 gentleman at the desk were very helpful and very professional. I gave them my driver license and passport as ID and they sent me on my way to get the car. I walked about 100 ft down a ramp and my car was waiting for me , they instructed me to return the car with a FULL TANK OF gas and I also walked around around ( and took pics ) of any major scratches, dents ect.... just in case and went on my way. Before returning the car I proceed it to FILL IT Up as they had indicated ( gas station 2 blocks from the rental place - ONLY CASH accepted just FYI) and went to return the car. I drove down the ramp I had originally got it from and handed the keys to the attendant , after confirming the tank was full and quick walk around of the vehicle he thanked us and sent us on our way. Few TIPS - take you license and passport ( if needed), Fill up the car before returning and always get insurance since you never know what can happen ( our insurance was purchased through Expedia when we made the car reservation).

Our flight was delayed so I had called to inform them that I would be late and to hold my car. And the representative confirmed that we will get our car right away. Instead...we had to wait for 1.5 hour (not include the .5 hour for the paperwork) when I got there as they said the car was being wash. REALLY? Due to this lateness, we were charged by our airbnb for late check in fee. They gave us s different car than the one we requested. The waiting area to get the car had no AC. Not recommended EVER!

After booking 2 months in advanced (and paying), i was refused to rent the car upon arrival in Rome due to the fact that "I didn't have a credit card", despite having paid. In addition, staff was completely incompetent to their limited role of filling out paper work and handing clients keys. Critical thinking? Non-existent. In addition, I did not receive a refund. The worker at the front desk acted like she was doing me a favor by talking to me, when in fact clients are doing her and the company a favor by providing you business and paying your meager salary. When I called the Hertz help line, nobody could speak English. Disappointing service by a German company. EU standards anyone? Wasted 6 hours of my time. I was always an advocate of Hertz, based on the fact that I work in the German government, but unfortunately this experience was terrible. Do yourself a favor, skip Hertz and walk around 100 meters down the road to AVIS to rent a car. It took me 5 minutes to rent a car with AVIS.

These people who working here are such liars and thief, from the manager to the officer. They just want to sale their own car insurance but I didn't say I want it. After that they did the transition and payment without I agree. I didn't even know when they do the transition until I received the message from bank. But the credit card hold amount already included the insurance which I didn't want it. At this stage they said they can't cancle the frozen. They said to me that the frozen will be cancle after I drop the car. But the amount was not right and I need the cancellation immediately so I asked them to cancel the first frozen and make another one without insurance charge. After that they said they can't make it which is ridiculous and a lie. I arrived at Hertz at 11 o'clock in the morning and during the 3 hours they keep lying to me and waste my time. Their manager said he cancel the frozen but when I called to my bank they said it was not. After a number of phone call and discern their lies they finally phoned VISA and request a cancellation. This was such a horrible experience. Please be careful with these people. The same thing might happen again.

Awful... waited over 3 hours to get a rent a car. They even offered the damaged car that involved in accident.

I called hertz directly and booked on the phone to be able to reserve from this location. It was my First time in Europe and I chose this location over the one at the airport. It was also the only rental location open β€œlate” on Saturday as they close at 3pm. Yes the location is split in two but once you get to Rome your would understand parking space in general is very rare so it would make sense the garage is a bit down the ways. Not at the office. The ladies at the office were very helpful told me about the ztl zones (which is very close to the location so be careful). We had a cool Jeep compΓ‘s diesel they don’t sell back home.

Very bad , don’t trust them , had to pay 700€ for a door that was already broke at the beginning, insist to do a pre check !!!
