Fin negli anni '50 era utilizzata dalla popolazione per esigenze igieniche. Aperta per alcuni mesi l'anno, molto suggestiva. La fontana prende il nome dal torrente sotterraneo Lantro che la alimenta e si trova di fianco alla chiesa di San Lorenzo. In origine fungeva da serbatoio d'acqua per la popolazione e venne abbandonata quando entrò in funzione il nuovo acquedotto comunale alla fine dell'800. Pare però che si sia continuato ad utilizzarla come lavatoio fino al 1950. Non ci sono cunicoli stretti da passare (per chi è infastidito dai luoghi angusti), infatti dall'esterno si accede direttamente alla vasca. Ovviamente è presente molta umidità, quindi è consigliabile andare con scarpe da ginnastica o comunque con suola in gomma. Se state visitando Città Alta fateci un salto, è un sito suggestivo e gratuito, piccolo testimone della storia di Bergamo. Cute historical place to visit in the upper town in Bergamo. The site is unknown to most and can be visited for free in 5 minutes. The fountain takes its name from the underground stream Lantro which feeds it and is located next to the church of San Lorenzo. Originally it served as a water reservoir for the population and was abandoned when the new municipal aqueduct came into operation at the end of the 1800s. It seems, however, that it continued to be used as a washhouse until 1950. There are no narrow tunnels to pass (for those who are annoyed by cramped places), in fact from the outside there is direct access to the pool. Obviously there is a lot of humidity, so it is advisable to go with sneakers or in any case with a rubber sole. If you are visiting Città Alta let us jump, it is a suggestive and free site, a small witness of the history of Bergamo.

La fontana prende il nome dal torrente sotterraneo Lantro che la alimenta e si trova di fianco alla chiesa di San Lorenzo. Per chi si trova in città non può saltare questo piccolo ma rilevante sito storico, altamente suggestivo. Lovely place little known but absolutely worth visiting in Bergamo.
