Terrible service . I ordered and paid for a vw golf 1.6 diesel or similar . And upon arrival I was presented a Renault Clio with gasoline. When I told them that this is a not similar at all to what I ordered . They said they don't have any other cars to offer and laughed when I complained. I was traveling for work and had to travel 1500 km so I really appreciated the extra gasoline cost. Then when I had to extend my stay I tried to call the customer service to let them know, but it was simply impossible to do. I called multiples times, I was always put on hold for 20 mins and then disconnected. When I did get through, twice someone not speaking English picked up and told me in Italian that they don't speak English and rudely hung up. Never renting from Europecar ever again .....

Pros: 1. Good value - we got the car for a better price then a number of other places like Avis offered, especially on stuff like childseats. 2. Quick document and payment handling - we got the contract and payment sorted in pretty much a few minutes after arriving at the rental location. Cons: 1. Cleanliness of the car - the car was not clean on the inside, the child-seats were especially dirty (the covers are easily removable and washable, it doesn't have to be this way). 2. Diligence of marking the damage to car - car had scratches that they did not register on the app when giving me the rental (although the guy at the counter said he did register it) .. and then tried to pin the damage on me when I returned the car. Luckily I had made a video on my phone of the exterior and interior damage of the car from the time of picking it up and I was able to successfully argue against this. 3. Short-staffed - only one person working on the pickup and return booth - people arrive hurrying to their flights and then have to wait for quite a long time 4. Their website tried to upsell me a TomTom navigator to a car that has a built-in satnav.. why?

NEVER return a car out of hours to these crooks (ladri)! I used to be a faithful Europcar client. NEVER AGAIN! They charged me for scratches that were already there and I have no way of proving otherwise despite checking out and signalling multiple scratches not on the form to their check-out guy. Always take photos of every inch of a vehicle you rent! Crooks!

Not recommended. I returned the car with two damages already present when I took the car. I signed in their tablet that I returned the car (obviously I did not agree that the damages were my fault). One week later, I received a document with the pictures of the damages and my signature!?!?! They copied my digital signature from the tablet when I returned the car and they pasted in the document! How can I demonstrate that I did not sign that document? It was not available when I returned the car. I will never rent a car with Europcar anymore!

"I would not use Europcar again. When I went to pick the car up in Milan, after travelling for thirty-six hours, the agent gave me a parking stall number which didn't have our car. After a half hour of fruitless searching I had the agent come out to the parking lot and we finally found the car in a different parking stall, but in doing so, the agent kept all my paperwork and in my exhaustion, I forgot to ask for it. Three weeks later, I returned the car to discover that I had been over-charged for a road-side assistance policy which I didn't ask for (I already had one). The extra charge came to 133 Euros. I informed the agent of this on the day of the return and he told me he couldn't reverse the charge but that he would send an email to inform Europcar. When I arrived back in Canada, I emailed customer support, explaining the situation. They replied that they could not find any record of my rental. As I didn't have the original paperwork, I supplied all the details provided by Expedia through which, I booked the car, including the vehicle license plate. After more than month of back and forth, they refused to refund the added insurance. December, 2018 update: I am pleased to report that after several escalations, EC eventually refunded my money.

Having used Europcar for over 20 years I'm afraid I'm off to the competition. Car returned at just before 8am on a Sunday and no-one to inspect car, left keys in deposit box. A week later get an email to say there's a scratch on the bumper. No response to my email that said how can you attribute damage when there's no-one to inspect car. Just a photo of a scratch so small it is barely visible. Charged Β£250 to my credit card for a mark that would T-cut out in seconds. Avoid there's a scam going on here and they've lost Β£5000 p.a. in business.

Left 100€ through my bank card, as deposit when I booked the car at Malpensa, and I never received the deposit back. It’s been 3 weeks already, and they told me they will return it in 2-3 working days. SCAMMERS

Very kind staff specially because it was late at night but they gave us a car full of damage, a lot of scratches, dirt inside and smelling cigar. At the return the car was full tank and they asked me about the fuel receipt. What? Do I have to collect all the receipts now? Never asked about it before. First and last time I use europcar.
